Car Colours
The other day I was on the motorway and 18 cars went past, all silver! The next few cars were either silver or black. What is going on with this country. Our common colours used to be the patriotic red, white or blue! Now everybody seems to want to pick the most boring colour available. Why
Please don't answer resale value because I don't believe the value is affected that much between silver and a nice met blue or similar. ![]() How many peole have bought silver cars? Who has a more envigorating colour? I must admit I do like the new Tango orange! |

You ask a good question but I think it is related in a way to some of the comments in the Badge Status thread - peer pressure!
People like to be seen as 'normal' and sadly normal is 'silver' for cars. I chose Black because I wanted to be a mafia junkie who terrorised people |

And how many of those 18 cars were German marques? As its the most common colour for cars whos roots are in Germany!
On a trip down the M6, M25, M1, A14, A1 & A1(M) and all the little roads in between I only saw 2 milano Civics and none of them were CTRs like mines. I had a Chilli Red Mini and it was the most popular colour but they couldn't make enough of them and instead of folk waiting 8 months for one they would take another colour that they could get sooner. |

lol, Angie you make a good point, most were german!
I can see the waiting list issue being true. I was told 20 weeks for my CTR in milano with rages! Luckily someone else ordered one from the same garage and then lost his job. not lucky for him! the stealers rang the distribution centre and got his standard alloys (yuk!) changed to rages and gave me the car. 5 weeks wait!!! If I had wanted silver/bronze/black with standard wheels, I could have had a car in 2 months! |

My wait was caused by the Rage alloys funnily enough |

The only reason I made the comment re German cars is because when I used to frequent the local BMW garage for yet more warranty work on the Mini my Dad was there and knows a few of the guys and the service manager said the AA quoted that you were more likely to breakdown if you drove a silver German car but never stipulated what marque

Has anbody else noticed that recently, cars parked outside are covered in dust? My wife's car was washed on Wednesday and in 2 days, the morning dew has left a thick coat of dust. I live in the Surrey/Hampshire area. |

Its all due to the sh-- they are burning in China and winging its way over here milano.
Can't blame them really. It's their turn now, as we have already b-ggered our little planet up. |

I honestly don't agree! They look boring. You bought Milano too, so you must partly agree!
Black is the only other current colour I would have considered. Obviously the demo white or yellow would have been good! Last edited by 19 milano : 9th May 2008 at 22:32. |

If I went in today to buy one, I would have a huge issue between silver and red, but Jack bought silver because he had only ever seen a silver and black one and as he had a NHB CR-V he wasn't having a NHB Civic lol! When he saw mines he was really impressed with it, but mines is usually spotless |

Silver is for the 'cool' gang
![]() My first preference was NHB but when I heard about the crap paint I thought I'd best avoid dark colours. Although if I go for a CTR it will have to be Milano, that combined with Rages and the black splitters is simply gorgeous!! |

Excatly Vet, good choice so you don't notice stone chips, scratches and swirls as much as you do on other colours.
I have to say I don't think Silver is a boring colour and depending on how often you get to wash it and how much you drive it, it can be a very good colour. |

More than likely......but saying that my sister has a yellow Polo and its always sods law that when you park it in a busy car park you'll come out and although she knows where hers is, there are always about another 3 in the car park all dotted about.
Its the same with the Orange ST's - always see a few of them dotted around car parks and quite close to one another and my thought always is 'I bet when they parked there they thought they'd be able to spot it a mile off and so did everyone else' |
