After having the 2.2 Diesel for a year and putting 35k miles on i am now faced with selling up and getting a company car...
Bearing in mind i will have to pay the tax on the car so the co2 emmisions and mpg result is very relevant i can not find ANYTHING else i would rather have in the same price bracket (Under £20k)....that will only cost about £55/month.... So suggestions please.... On the wild side ...I have looked at a Mitsubishi L200 Animal pickup.... (classed as an Light Commercial Vehicle) so very low tax.... but at max 30mpg it will KILL ME on the fuel consumption. Shows i am open minded though.... So it comes back to a stonking good 6 speed Diesel ...DISCUSS Rob

Mondeo? Better than you might think.
Old shape Accord? Have to hurry, but the diesel sport is lovely. Another Civ? Try a 3 door.... |

Mines a company car - went for the 2.2 ES, didnt opt for the EX simply because I felt the cost difference for what was essentially SAT NAV and hands free would mean I was paying closer to £140 a month in tax versus just shy of £120, where if I need a Sat nav, I can get a TOM TOM and claim it back on expenses....job done kind of thing.
Emissions are low at 135 so it stays in a low bracket for the next few years, however they do round up on on the level so 135 rounds up to 140...never mind I guess...! My advice would be to get parking sensors though and the leather if you can.... Check Company Car Driver for more info - they have a good car tax calculator that lets you choose exact models, tax brackets etc and they have the P11D prices as well... I agree that the Civic is probably the best car you can get sub 20k (assuming small family hatch of course...) If there are other cars you want to look at though - perhaps consider the Octavia Elegance or Vrs diesel (though wit the VRS some options are required to get it to similar kit levels) |

Yes of course - old shape accord - though in the showroom the other day, the older model was £27K vs £24k for the new one...!
The man on the service desk pointed it out too me...!!! |

My 6 month old one was £15k.The new ones are generally £2k more than the old model equivalent. |

All good answers....
I have looked at the Accord and Mondeo but both are bigger than i need/want. Not sure i could go to a Skoda.... I know they are good now days as i have a few as hire cars... but i just could not after the Civ... I already have a Tomtom920 with hands free so would also not need all the "toys" on a top spec model Seems to be going back round in circles..after looking through the entire What Car guide looking at price / MPG / tax liability it seems to come back to probably a 3 door S type 2.2 ES... Oh well maybe wait for the new VW Scirrocco....looks a bit mean |

It's very wrong. The fully loaded EX diesel (the most expensive model) had a list of £21k, but sold for about £20k. You should now pay £19k.
An SE diesel retailed for £18.6K (pay £17.6k). Nothing would take these cars to £27k, other than a dealer putting a 2 instead of a 1 on the price board! |

Could have been the price label for the Legend left carelessly on the Accord.....Not going to do much to increase sales enquires...
