The question you have to ask yourself is whether it's worth risking everything you've currently got for what would likely be at best a quick "roll in the hay" and at worst a slap in the face.
You say "I guess our family life is as good as can be expected", which suggests you are not entirely happy with your family life, and I think that's what you need to address: If you resolve any niggling issues at home then the grass will look far less green over the fence. I'm 40 and have been married for 10 years which puts me in a similar position as yourself, but I can honestly say I've never even thought of being unfaithful in those 10 years, and that's down to the fact I am very, very happy with my family life and love my wife and daughter to bits. There is no way I would ever want to jeopardise that. |

And whatever you do, do not get drunk at the office christmas party. Or better yet, don't go. Spend the time with your wife and kids instead.
As one other mid-life crisis related thread suggested, buy a Type-R? |

Good evening all! Much too busy today to check Civinfo at work, so after a read-in, here goes:
Basegreen- Yup, pretty much what my mate Mark told me over a drink the other day- "Hey, you think all the other able-bodied males don't think like you? Enjoy the feeling, and live with it" (but hands off!). Sounded simplistic at the time, but I think it may have some merit... jayt43- Exactly where am I supposed to put the lee... No, on second thoughts don't answer that! PhilA- "as good as can be expected" I did not mean in a fatalistic or derogatory sense, just that we've known eachother for over 12 years and the novelty has worn off a bit... I am not setting out to have an affair, I am trying my damndest NOT to have one, here... I wouldn't swap my wife and kids for anything, as long as it's my head that's doing the thinking... Copycat- Office party was last Friday: Maxbert was at home with Mrs. Maxbert and the Maxbertlings! To sum up, and to put this thread out of its misery (if I DO decide to go for it I will keep you posted, but you've probably all guessed that it ain't gonna happen... "God if you're up there, listen to my prayer, In future man should have a different design. Give him a switch so he can turn off his libido yeah Give him a tranquiliser built into his mind..." Maxbert (and Joe Jackson) Last edited by Maxbert; 25th October 2006 at 19:48. Reason: To zap the evil typo, otherwise ol' Joe's quote made no sense! |

Spend some quality time with your wife, get a sitter for the kids, do something special together, give your relationship some time. It is so easy to forget your own relationship when you are busy bringing up kiddies and we all need to feel special from time to time. I'm not suggesting you don't love your wife or that you neglect her but as you said 'the novelty has worn off'. Re kindle that spark, it will still be there. Here's to your 11th anniversary I'm on my 19th year of marriage, kids growing up fast and hubby and I are getting more time for us. Life gets easier |
