Just as a matter of interest, if you do not bet, is horseracing interesting to watch?

I'd put it in the same catagory as watching paint dry, or watching grass grow !.

I trust St Thomas, that you are not a gambling man ?.

I would'nt bet on it.

No, sorry. Just wondered. It was suggested as a day out last Summer and I said I was busy. Sounds as if I did right then.

Since Non-drip came in all the fun has gone out of life.

Oh yes it is good when you don't bet - there is nothing more majestic than a horse in full flight!! Get close to the rails and admire them at their best!!!! Top see them jump is to see an animal with out wings fly!!!! The TV does not do it justice!!!

Where do you go to watch them? Is it expensive?

I have been to Haydock twice but not for horses. Do you know about horses/ racing etc?

Depends if you go for the cheap seats or the enclosure. I have never been myself but my parents and friends go and say that it's a really good day out. We're spoilt for race courses in North Yorks - Ripon, York, Wetherby and Thirsk.

Cheap seats, me. Who do you think you are talking to.?
If I had got the time I would be on that train up North and sort things out.
Cheap seats indeed.
P.S.
Have you got the fare please?

I like going - but I'm no expert. I can only recommend courses in the northwest as thats were I'm from. For the jumps haydock and Aintree are good. I think there is a major meeting coming up in November. For a good quiet course Bangor on Dee is great - you can just pay to park your car there and watch from the car park.

For the flat Chester is great - its a tight course so you can see loads and the clientelle is of a slightly better class!! haha!!! i.e. loads of posh people!!!

You can pay anywhere from £10 for tatts tickets to £100's for the best seats at the best meetings. There is a wide range of prices!!

Its worth going!!

I recently went to ascott and had a really good day, £22 for VIP pass. My wife won £110 from a £5 bet which covered the cost..

I think the betting adds to the day.

I just enjoy admiring the very beautiful horse animal, I would say it's nature's most beautiful living thing!
Don't care so much about the races, as long as the horses are kept well and they are healthy.

I can imagine going without betting could still be enjoyable, but betting does not need to be expensive, go to the Tote £1 or £2 each race, you can still win a bit. Or just pick a horse and have a mental bet. You would kick yourself if it wins and you could have had money on it.

The summer evening races are the best, take a picnic, or a lot of places put on BBQ and bands, a real family evening out. You got a family St T?

I used to love going to Southwell, York, Doncaster with my folks when I was younger. It was funny back then, under 16's got in free, so we get towards the gate and all my Dad would say was, you're 15, you're 15.. how old are you? "16". Doh!
