Who's Backing Civinfo?

Just curious. Is there an organisation behind this remarkably good site? Honda themselves perhaps...being very machievellian and pretending to have nothing to do with it? A PR company? An ad agency? Google? There must have been set-up costs. Who bore them? Someone knows, obviously. Perhaps they'd care to enlighten us.

Reckon it must be Honda

They get very upset when I mention that their designer gave up before completing the overall performance of the rear window.

This forum has nothing to do with Honda -- but they do have a keen interest in the content.

waaaaaay back when, there were a couple of very keen Civic enthusiasts who generously decided to share with the rest of us.

But definately not Honda, start up costs came from digging down the backs of sofas, and later on some (small) income from stickers

As ever, all thanks to Pottsy, Jane (Mrs Pottsy) and BaseGreen

Bit more to it than that, but that's the basics, and there is not a 'hidden' agenda or anything else going on

I've always suspected a lurking presence behind this site...

...that's why I never log in without my tin-foil hat on.

If anyone doubts this site is not a genuinely run site by a few enthusiasts/owners they're very welcome to PM me, or Pottsy for more info!

No doubts whatsoever...........

It would be nice to have representation from one of the people behind creating the site at the North West meeting

We could buy you a candle

Honcho, I can assure you that this is how it happened:

I wanted to find out about the new Civic before I bought one.
I found a blog, and it was very difficult to use.
I got grumpy with this, and thought: "I know, I'll make my own site!"
I put phpBB on my ISP webspace.
I put a whole load of content on it (mostly photos).
I contacted a few people who had posted on the blog site, one of whom was basegreen.
Basegreen and I went about finding users.
I moved the site from my own ISP to better hosting (after a session on a poor host).
I switched the software from phpBB to vBulletin.
TTDegs now also helps out as a mod, and Jayne does the stickers.
The setup costs are offset by sticker sales and advertising. The real value has come from the effort that has been put in by the users.

I have attempted to contact Honda a few times, but have never even had a response.

There you go - a full history.

The last meet was great, and I'd love to come to this. But I finish work at 1430 and am at least 2 hours away. If anyone will still be there late afternoon, I'll come!
