I grump for ages if I miss TG

Would I buy a car on their recommendation? NO

Do I find the whole program just a fantastic hour's worth of (vaugelly) car related entertainment? YES

5th gear?
managed to sit through nearly all of an episode.
once :-/

someone kindly posted up a UTube link to the 5th gear attempt to get to 200mph.
half an hour of drivel later, and they still failed.

You know full well that the TG team would have failed also, but:

JC would have then sold the smoking wreck for twice what he paid for it
Hamster would have been experimenting with go faster paint stripes
The other one () would have probably either reached 200mph (but been disqualified for something), or have turned up on the back of a low loader

Top Gear almost justifies the License Fee by itself each year.

I admire Vicki Butler Henderson so I vote for Fifth Gear. But I also watch Top Gear and enjoy the humour more...
So which do I watch?---- Both (not each and every program)
Which do I vote for?----- 5th Gear (they owe a thank to Vicki)
Being a girl father, I am on the girlies' side!

As far as I know, she drives a Honda S2000. IMO, Honda should give her a Civic for promotion... But I guess it should be the "R"...

Butler-Henderson is good but Lovejoy is pretty useless, some nice touches on 5th gear, but top gear is the daddy, looking forward to the next series which according to the Sunday Times will be in January

i like both but would vote for top gear if jc wasnt in it so ill have to be firth gear because i love watching tiff drivening things with so much skill, Tiff Needell has to be the best on tv i think , yer vickys not bad , even jason plato is quite funny.
i wounder if they will move with the times and change the name to 6th or 7th gear as most things got 6 gears now.

Can't believe it, some people prefer 5th Gear!!
Its OK till the return of Top Gear, but its like comparing Stockport County to Man Utd!

With 6 speed gearboxes common now, "5th Gear" does have a bit of a puff pastry ring to it. I've tried to watch it once or twice but don't think I managed more than 15 minutes.

The format change of Top Gear, incorporating an airfield for thrashing cars on, really did take the programme to new heights.

"5th Gear" is not just another term for "Top Gear", it is also refering to the channel it is aired on, Five. For that reason alone, the would never change it, even if 6th Gear is more appropriate these days.

I don't particularly like Clarkson, but I do like May and Hamster. Tiff is by far the best driver on TV, but unfortunatly the show is weaker and does not keep my interest like TG does.

On the contrary, I think Clarkson is Top Gear.
He doesn't give a stuff for the PC brigade, which is refreshing. Especially on the BBC.

I know Clarkson is TG, I was comparing the presenters, saying I don't like him, but I do like the other two, but 5th Gear's Tiff is the best driver.

Top gear through and through.
Having met Tiffany Dell, Sqeekey Henderson & Tom Ford I can firmly and with some conviction say that only one of them I would want to meet again (hint, I got his name right). The other 2 were up thier own backsides and the Tall one was such a condesending twasok that me and my mate just walked off while he was mid sentence. total numpty (reminded me of J.Button)

And Tiffany is not the best driver on TV, Ben Collins is

Tiff will only impress me when he actually manages to do a proper quick lap without going sideways or yanking the handbrake on**. And all the sublte Top Gear bashing comments featured on the channel 5 show just stink of childish jealousy.

**If you think sideways is impressive then Clarkson and Hammond both have that skill by the bucket load and some of the most impressive drifting I've seen has actually been on Top Gear (Ok, so Hamond really should try to get dragsters sideways buts kids eh....)

Ps. If you like James May then you should check out the wine show with Oz Clarke (Wednesday nights, 8.30pm). It's by far the funniest show on TV at the moment.

Absolutely, it's quite obvious he knows absolutely nothing about cars! I thikn Tom Ford is actually quite funny, i liked his review of the civic, that was probably what sold me!
