I should be getting my new TV drive thingy the end of this month. For those not in the know it's NTL's answer to Sky+, and from what i can tell it should blow sky out of the water, I mean 3 tuners in one box, how cool is that! HD ready (rental as opposed to having to buy the box, so if it goes tits up you just get sent another one) archive connectivity live rewind to 1.5 hrs, no interference to knock out your recordings, brilliant!

I have SkyHD.. and the quality is brilliant. I paid 149 for new box, and tbh it was worth it to make football watchable on a big screen

Thank's for that. I'm dialling NTL now; hopefully they should answer in an hour or so...

I got through straight away over the weekend, some areas already have the TV Drive, phone up and say that you are moving to Sky for HD content and two tuners thingy and they'll organise a date for an NTl engineer to come out and install the TV Drive now, as opposed to when the nationwide advertising drive is initiated

Thank's GS. They answered straight away but suggested I have a look for info on their Home Page. I'll have a look then use your idea of moving to Sky.

Thank's again.

How about that, GS, your idea worked a treat; being installed next week on Wednesday morning.

I hope ntl have done their homework this time.
I used to have ntl when it was analog, when they changed to digital I got fed up having to keep resetting the damn box because it froze, eventually went to Sky, and then got Sky+ which seems to work pretty well, although it does have a few "nuances" that sometimes mean saved programmes get deleted!

Sky+ compared to TiVo is like comparing a clapped out fiesta to a new civic!

Agreed! I only ditched my TiVo for Sky+ so I could record one channel while watching the other - saves the football match arguments

This new NTL system can record two other channels whilst you watch a third as it has 3 tuners. Hopefully it won't freeze and need resetting! That could be a nuisance if you are recording and 'having a flick' (pardon the expression!).

Don't follow football enough to warant the outlay for it and the HD from BBC2 seems a bit bleak.

Informed sources say that it will not improve for years!!!

Seems I've gotta stick with Std Digital from Sky.

NTL don't know when they are coming my way

Thanks for the info allan40alt but NTL & Co. seem to be having trouble with the council on digging up my area.

They wont even quote an ETA

It looks like a no no around here - shame tho.

And by the time 24 comes out on HD DVD I would know the ending!!!
