I would just like to say - being an Irish person, I think I have good authority to talk about this subject - and yes..............Pottsy you are indeed correct!

The only way to eat the spud is mashed up with some scallions (also known as Spring Onions to English people) this dish is called CHAMP - best in the world!

Right with you there moo! The finest dish there is, but speak no more of it right now, you're making me hungry!

I am sensing some negativity here. Even I don't sit down and tuck into a plate of raw spuds for my supper, just a few samples whilst I'm peeling them.

Go on, try it, you know you want to.

Raw is certainly not the best way to eat a potato; but whilst you're peeling a couple of samples does not go amiss. Especially when chipped!
Sorry Pottsy; but I'm with Jaybe on this one, raw potato's are the good!

I have tried many a thing raw whilst chopping it, although I can half agree with you about the potota I will be voting horrible! The best thing raw in the kitchen while you are killing time waiting has to be steak (beef, not lamb or chicken or pork, although horse is nice raw).

Mushrooms are nice raw, like pees, carrots, onions (young and small).
Duck (fat) is very nice (Try it as a Tatare steak...), Salmon and some other fish... (but you know that i'm french, so what's moving is eatable, even sometime what's not moving....)

Potatoes, I've tryied, ... but sometime we like disgusting things I'm ashamed but from time to time I chew a bit of potatoes, remembering me my young time when we where doing some scientific experiments to show the action of the saliva on the starch to obtain sugar (glucose if I remeber well).
