Can you imagine that? Leaving your high paying job, which allows you to drive the world most expensive cars and which makes you world famous.. and then just calling it quits?

I'd say Jeremy will continue to do Top Gear. Maybe not this summer though (Jeremy said "Top gear won't be back in the summer", so if they're back next sunday, they would be back in spring, not summer )

The best time to quit is when you're at your peak. People will remember it that way. Last season has been one of the best. The USA special episode is worth an Emmy by itself. So perhaps this is the best time to quit.

But I really hope Top Gear keeps it's level for years to come, so there's no need to quit.

Plus we have yet to see the Stig put the CTR on the number 1 spot

Top Gear will return, BBC insists

Click the image to open in full size. The BBC said it was "expecting" all three Top Gear hosts to return

Top Gear will return in the summer, the BBC has said - despite host Jeremy Clarkson declaring that it will not.
At the end of latest series last week, the BBC Two announcer assured viewers the show would be back in the summer.
But in his newspaper column in The Sun, Clarkson said: "Can I just say, here and now, it won't be."
A BBC spokesman responded by saying: "Top Gear will be back. A summer special is planned." A new series would reach screens in the autumn, he added.
Ratings winner
"We're expecting all three boys to present the programmes."
But he refused to give any further details or explain the confusion. The show made a successful comeback in January, four months after co-host Richard Hammond was involved in a serious high-speed crash while filming. An estimated eight million people tuned in to see the last episode in the series on Sunday - BBC Two's largest audience for 10 years.

Wow, had me worried sick there. I realize it will end some day. I wouldn't blame Hammond for not wanting to continue with Top Gear after his incident. But, alas, it seems all three are able and willing to keep doing what they do best. Thank God.

Anyone bid for tickets to "Top Gear of the Pops"? Sometimes I do wish I lived in the UK....

OK, time for a reality check, methinks.

It has to come back so we see how they get on growing their own petrol!
The field they are using must be in the North Herts area near Ashwell....the village where Hammond took his big tractor....which is only a few miles form where I live.
I guess there must have been a news embargo at the time as there was nothing in the local paper.

Jezza put an end to this story in his Sun column on Saturdays (very funny), and said that Top Gear would be back in the Autumn. Keep watching all the repeats on UKTV

So can anybody enlighten us as to what this was all about? Clarkson's contract up for renewal? Did he get out of the wrong side of the bed? Is he involved in the summer special? Has the summer special been canned?

They have videos to watch on their BBC website, although it didn't work for me http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/ or the Top Gear website: http://www.topgear.com//content/time...ctions/videos/

Last week Clarkson stated quite clearly in both his times online article and the sun newspaper that Top Gear will return in the Autumn.
