Watch out when hiring a courtesty car.
Just thought I would share this with you, it proves how easy it is to be caught out by some companies;
When I had my accident my insurance company provided me with a car from a company called Drive Assist. The car was delivered to me and the guy had one of those small hand held devices that they write in to on the screen (not sure what they are called), he had taken it through a car wash so it was kind of clean, it had a couple of dents and I pointed out a few more scratches that he wrote down (im good at finding those When I left work to drive the car home I noted that I had 122 miles to go before empty, the inside looked like it had never been cleaned and there were empty cans on the floor. I had the car for six days, drove 88 miles and then put £10 of diesel back in which bought the miles back up to 120 to go before empty. They came to collect the car and and again I had to sign the screen. Thursday last week I received a letter from them with a checklist that had my signature at the bottom so obviously all the data on the checklist was within the screen I had signed (so I hadnt seen any of this before) it said the car was returned dirty, on empty and listed the dents and several scratches and stonechips, the letter said that if they found the details differed to the list when it was handed to me then I would receive an Invoice. I called them and said i wasnt happy that I had signed accepting the car on delivery and collection not realising that I was actually signing for so much information without having it pointed out to me, plus I had never been sent a report on the condition of the car when it was delivered to me. Today I received the delivery report, it says the car was clean, a quarter full and not only that it appears that I must have fixed some of the scratches that were on the car as the damage checklist does not tally with the collection report!! So I will be ok (I assume) but if the next person doesnt spot the scratches that are not shown on my collection report they may end up being held responsible. It is a really poor system and im sorry this is so long!! |

TC you know the big blue lottery 'it's you!' hand? Have you got a huge bad luck one following you round all the time?
