An Astra!!??? Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I've just arrived back in England, and bloody Europcar have given me a soddin' Astra 1.8 Petrol!!!!!???
Now, you may recall that I had a Zafira SRi 1.9 TDi over Xmas, which I actually quite liked, but this Astra is just all wrong...... The main thing about it, is it's awful driving postion.....where ever I adjust the seat, it just doesn't feel right, worse still when I try to engage 5th (yes, it ONLY has 5 gears!! I've sat in one before, but never actually driven one, and now I have, I won't be shouting too much about it... |

Lucky you, a 1.8!
Europcar gave me a 1.4 Astra last year when my Civic was taken into the garage unexpectantly and to say it was a complete dog is an understatement. Never mind, it will make you appreciate your Civic when you next drive it. |

5th gear, hits knee ???
I really needed to think about how you did this. I even thought the Astra had some weird gear layout. But then I got it. Right hand drive |

Thats weird you've said that CP, because I was thinking today how heavy the steering is compared to my Civic.......??.........Also, as it's an 'SRi' model, it's got a 'Sport' button on the centre console - anyone know what that's supposed to do??
I'm pretty sure the Zafira SRi I had at Xmas had it to, but I never pressed it..... |

It supposedly firms up the steering responses, the opposite of what the 'city' button does on the Fiats. The model I drove was an SXI variant as well Mark!

from memory, on the VXR Zafira I had for a day - think it turns down the VSA, and possibly did something with the drive by wire throttle.
can't really remember - I was so underwhelmed by the rest of the car that even the exciting bits lost my interest after 5 seconds |
