Smile Can Recommend Wales for good driving

Just back from a few days break in Wales. Essentially looking for some good driving and found this in abundance. Partly due to the time of year as quiet but the roads were great and scenery fantastic. From Poole travelled via Blandford, Bath near Bristol - bit of M4 then A466 to Monmouth up to Hereford (A49) then to Shrewsbury to A5 where we stayed 2 nights at the Lyon Quays Hotel, which was very nice and good food, near Weston Rhyn (not far from Oswestry). Got half price deal through North Wales tourist board. Could see car park from our room and looked out window to see a guy taking pictures of car and generally checking it out. Can’t say I blame him.
Next day went to Colwyn Bay via Llangollen A542 Horseshoe Pass (excellent drive), A525. From Colwn Bay round coast to Caernarfon then over Snowdon on the A4086 – (great road and views).
Tuesday saw us heading South as I had seen on a web site that the A4069 over the Black Mountain was a great driving road. This is between Llandovery and Glanaman ( all about 20 miles north of Swansea). We took A483 then A470 to Brecon A40 to Llandovery where we stopped for lunch before motoring over mountain. Breathtaking views and very good driving on very quiet road. Had a bit of luck as when we stopped later, about 40 miles on, better half discovered she had left handbag in pub so had to drive back over mountain (great hardship) and ended up staying in the pub overnight which was also good.
Wednesday saw us home and in total had done about 750 miles. Car was a dream - averaged about 44miles to gallon, which I thought, was good as hardly driving economically. Trip exceeded expectations - particularly the driving.
Pic attached - car in carpark of Lyon Quays Hotel overlooking canal. 2nd picture where we saw guy checking out car and taking pictures. Have to say it did look good!
