Actually if you read the report properly and also other relevant articles (I'm a biker and this is not a new story) the bike itself is fine. The Police load it up with a hell of a lot of heavy equipment which is really set too far back and it is that that causes the issue.

Absolutely. The article itself says the following....

Quote:
The inquest was told that problems affected only police models of the motorcycle with their heavy emergency and communications equipment.
So clearly the extra equipment is not positioned correctly, or it adversly effects the bikes aerodynamics. What you need to know is that the particular Honda bike was chosen for the role after test of the standard public model found it the ideal easy ride.

BBC=Panic mongering propagander. They think that everything is someone elses fault and will always imply/lay blame on thier own choice of guilty party, despite the contents of their very own article.

Instability due to all the gear they add was the reason for their switch from BMW's to Hondas - what goes around comes around?

Back to cars and Honda - F1 season - wasn't there a promising driver called Jenson something?

From experience in my profession, the press all round are adept at doing this. Embellish the facts to make the story more interesting (lies everywhere) and play the blame game.

I despise this "blame culture" where every event needs a blame figure; I suspect it really started in Hillsborough. Sometimes in life there is no blame figure, just a sequence of slightly shoddy events that when lined up can cause a disaster.

In the BBC's defence, at least the article mentioned the fact the problem was with the police equipment. Many articles from news organisations seem to include just the juicy bits of the story.

Well said Pottsy - I was starting to believe I was alone in thinking this way!

?????????????????????????????????????????????:conf used:

So the Police overload the bike and it's Honda's fault.

Even if there was a problem with the bike, it does NOT mean EVERY Honda product has a problem/quality issues.

OK the the new Civic has a few teething troubles - so did the previous generation when it was launched! ALL cars (and ALL products for that matter) have problems when they are first launched.

Go and buy another brand and THEN you might start singing Honda's praises!

I am very happy with my Civic's quality, so much so I think I'm gonna start singing.........

I love Honda's, I love Honda's, they are great!, I love Honda's, I love Honda's...........

Come eveyone join in, then Bibster might buy a new Civ

There are far too many people getting on Honda's back at the moment
Honda like all manufacturers can and do make mistakes
but they make far less than the majority of their competitors
( apart from their customer services needing a real boot up the backside
there isn't much wrong with Honda)

Can I just add, if you find the right dealer then it makes all the difference to tolerating problems. With all the hassle I have had since owning my civic I still say I love it and I don't hold any one person responsible for the problems, as soon as I changed dealerships I found the inconvenience of going back and forth far easier to cope with.

However Honda Customer Services are an absolute disgrace and certain members of their staff need a shove out the door as they clearly do not have the right attitude for the job!

As for the bike accident, it wouldn't matter who had manufactured the vehicle the press would still be saying the same thing, at the end of the day the bike was over loaded and going at excessive speeds.

I thought that Steve Oliver had his keys for the staff toilet taken away from him!

Yet I've just got a letter from a guy called Steve Oliver asking me to get some Honda Insurance.

Maybe they've just down graded him a bit!

After several unanswered letters I managed to speak to him on the phone.

He just was not concerned with my lack of cooperation with C.S. dept.

I had this conversation just the other day.
I think the Civic is great, and it has had a few minor toothing issues (some more than others) but if you have an issue it's how it gets fixed which is the main thing. And in a LOT of cases it just hasn't been sorted satisfactorily. Such as in TC's case, to be honest she's had a lot of bad luck, but if Honda said "ok, our fault" and resprayed the car, then I think she'd be happy (sorry if I'm wrong)

Your not wrong, it is the way in which Honda have tried to ignore me for so long that has really got to me, and then to send me a report that has a left me with lots of questions but to say they will not respond to me again is just madness !!

Once again I concur with Topcat's view on Honda Ruislip. I had occasion to use them for something recently and I found them polite, knowledgable and very pleasant to deal with.

I've now decided to wait for the facelifted Civic ( about a 18 months), but I'm pretty sure I know where I'll be buying it.
