Advice on iPhone 4 - Sending text's twice and from email account

Hey guys,

My friend has purchased a 2nd hand iPhone 4 handset and taken out a sim only contract for it. We have come across 2 problems:

1. Text messages are being delivered twice to the recipients

2. I have been receiving texts from her and instead of it shown as being sent from her mobile number, it shows that the text message has been sent from her email address.

Any advice on this would be great

Are you on an iPhone too?

Sounds like they are using imessage for the email address thing. Tell them to go to settings > messages > change the username for imessage

Right guys this is an Imessage error, get her to check her imessage is on. in Settings, and double check her Imessage account settings.

and check her email address and correctly configured.

When a number hasnt been added into her contacts it uses the email address thats assigned to imessage to send to.

Imessage has 2 contacts to message if one cant be contacted.

Normally your itunes account email and your mobile number.
