I work for a small oil company as an MWD (Measurement While Drilling) Engineer.

Basically, drilling big holes in the ground! The equipment I run tells us which angle we are drilling at, the direction we are going, and what we are drilling through!

Lots of overseas travel!

So if it wasn't for me, there would be no petrol / diesel for us to run our Civics!! Ha Ha!!

I am a train driver for Southern.
So if your train was ever late waiting for a member of train crew, it was probably delayed whilst I was getting myself a cup of tea.
Nice to see a fellow railwayman on here.

I work as a Train Manager/Senior Conductor or simply a Train Guard for Cross Country Trains (ex Central Trains)

Delayed my train one morning about a year ago:

Phone rings at home "Are you planning on coming in this morning?"
Me: I don't start till.....rubs eyes......10 mins ago.
Manager: Train's waiting with some pi**ed off people onboard, get yourself here sharpish you muppet!!
Just my luck I sleep in on one of the few days there is nobody sitting spare/stanby.

The irony being I was presented with a certificate the previous day for excellence in customer services lol with high street vouchers as a Thankyou gift.

I had always heard from friends who worked for CT that they were a bunch of miserable bar-stewards. Being called a muppet and getting vouchers sounds not to bad

Most of the immediate managers were a good lot, with TCS its the old 'it works both ways attitude', you get the respect you dish. However CT control and the top gaffas were complete moral killers, glad to have got rid.
Poor buggers on London Midland couldn't wait to get rid of them also, only to find most of CT management was now London Midland management. OOOPs.

Sounds like our lot.
I feel sorry for the poor buggers at LM, they are now owned by the same bunch as us, Go-Ahead.

And probably muttering about drivers who break your handywork
Is your favourite phrase NFF by any chance, that's what our fitters always seem to write in the fault books.
