Once got first couple out the way it's not too bad, get in bit of routine for the rest of the week. Got plenty of snacks keep me going!

Yep I work nights, we all have to do the same to make it fair. I usually opt for 2 months in one go to get them out the way and usually do some extra as overtime.
Personally I love them, only work 3 or 4 nights out of the week so more time off, they pay better which is always nice plus its a nice change of pace seeing the hospital at night, kinda erie but cool.

It's a killer mate, I'm like a zombie. The only way I can manage it is if don't sleep when I go home on the Monday, and go to bed at about 9 at night

I love the night shift.

Empty roads..Lovely night air...And...

I never have to be woken by an alarm clock. I wake up when my body tells me to wake up.

Awesome !

Yes I work 12 hour nights / days, 7am to 7pm and vice versa.

Easy to do!

Simply don't sleep during the day when on nights!

And speaking of nights I've just agreed to do one after being on this morning, must be mad

I'm on call from 5pm to 9am several times a week, including one weekend each month from 9am Saturday to 9am Monday. Can't complain the overtimes comes in handy for upgrades on the FN1

Take them to court - I would.

The Working Time Directive covers all employees. It doesn't apply to Directors fortunately as I was able to work mad hours when I was a contractor (limited company).

Now I am an employee, I tried to opt out and they wouldn't let me! It wasn't worth arguing over. Just get bored sat at home all the time!

I hate my job anyway!

Im logging it all in a file incase it ever came to it.

The atmosphere is strange and my job doesnt feel secure but they cant sack me as other agencies who keep mine running love me and only want to deal with me.

So ive logged it all down ready for "judgement day" then turn around and say i want a pay out or im going to court

Used to work nights leave house at 5:00pm and drive 45miles do a do a night shift and then get home at 8:00am. Done this for 4 nights and then in on saturday 6:00am -12:00 (midday)

Nearly killed me! I hated it too! That was the last time and I swore to never do nights again!

I now work 8:30am to 16:30 mon - thursday and 8:30am - 16:00 on friday - no shifts and no weekends.

I love it and even get to see the wife and kids

Nights NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!

I think of the 35% shift allowance on top of my basic its like an extra 10k a year... Thats the only reason why i do it. I hate nights too.

i'm currently working nights 5x9hr shifts a week. i'm nearly doubling my basic pay a month so its well worth it and im saving for my first home. 15% deposit needed .

i do actualy prefer it to working days as i get longer breaks and no pesky managers around. im a welder building the new QEC Aircraft Carriers in Rosyth Dockyard.

Oh and no special tactics at staying awake. just get plenty of sleep that works for me
