Hi mate,

Can't imagine how your feeling i'm gutted for you.

it is one of those nightmare scenarios.

i think that the likeliness that you probably will recieve a ban, when you go to court etc i would advise you tell them exactly what happened, and that you had no intention to drive, but still admit you know you were wrong now to even have gone near your vehicle.

I do genuinely believe you, as most people who are car enthusiasts wouldn't ever risk losing their licence in my opinion.

I underwrite for an insurance company and i can tell you that drink drive convictions don't always mean someone is going to have a claim!... So there not frowned upon as much as you think!

You should be fine once you come off your ban dude.

Good luck and keep us updated!

Was the car able to be moved - was in blocked in by other cars?

Was it raining - shelter?

Surely at a festival or whilst camping it is reasonable to assume that personal possessions etc will be left in the car and will require access, which requires a key.

I've just spoke to my sister (she's a policewoman) she said providing the engine wasn't running (cold even better) and you explain the circumstances to the court then you should be found not guilty.

Good luck! - legal aid is free and available to all BTW!

I wouldn't play Russian roulette with my license Rob. It's a bad job when you can't trust your brief mate.

I'd beg borrow and steal to afford a decent solicitor if I was you mate, big crackdowns on drink driving offences, spend some money save your license, scrimp and take the ban its your call effectively.
Nothing anyone else on here can tell you now fella, its down to you.

Not a great outlook from what I can see... I wonder how the old bill would deal with this had you been parked up with an RV?
