To be honest i had an iPhone 4 (my last one i had) & it was good at that time. The Galaxy S was nothing special in my eyes.

Galaxy vs iPhone 4 - Stuck to the iPhone 4

Galaxy SII vs iPhone 4S - iPhone 4s was a huge disappointment for an upgrade, total rip off - Galaxy SII gets ahead!

Galaxy SIII vs iPhone 5 - Galaxy SIII pulls ahead further, would have taken a special iPhone to have matched it, iPhone 5 doesn't come close.

My initial point was really about the user experience anyway. Hardware always gets incremently faster. As far as user experience is concerned I'd take iOS any day (if I was prepared to pay out that much).

I just ordered it on three, £37/month for 32gb phone which is free using quidco.

Originally I wasn't overly impressed but I use itunes and macs all the time and don't want any faff losing my apps or songs.

I've owned pretty much all brands of phones, I just don't get the appeal of iPhones these days. They are falling behind, and the 5 is quite a disappointment to many of my Apple owning friends.

They haven't moved on much in the last few years at all. Considering all of the technology that COULD have gone into the 5, they've really dropped the ball. Take a look at the Nokia Lumia 920 and see just how much better it will be, and Nokia have dropped behind in the market too recently. Nokia's weakness has been the Symbian OS, which is pretty crap, but now they're switching for Windows, and adding lots of new tech, I think they're going to claw their way back. At the moment I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, and it's a great phone. I've played with an S3, and while it is faster and looks a little prettier, I couldn't justify the cost for a fairly minor upgrade.

I think that 4 and 4S owners will probably be in the same quandary, from what I'm hearing from my Apple friends. 4S was only a small upgrade from the 4, and the 5 is only a small upgrade from the 4S. Screen slightly bigger, camera now does panoramic (been around for a long time on other phones, my old Pixon used to do that), and it's a little faster.

I have no brand loyalty these days. If Apple brought out a phone that was the top of the field and justified the cost, I'd have it. I think the next phone I'll be buying will be the Lumia 920. Can't wait to see Samsung and HTC's offerings with similar tech too.

Personally I don't get the big deal. It's just a phone. I don't really understand all the techy stuff so that's probably why. I've had a 3GS and now I've got a 4S. I like how they work and they do everything I want it to so I've just ordered the 5. Each to their own and all that :thumbup:

Well I'm so glad i have a my cheap £12 pay as you go phone, cause there is no-way in a million years would I pay for something my laptop can do. Besides I'd probably brake it or loose it within weeks of having one, plus it's never bothered me actually owning these phones.

Android powered devices FTW

I do development work on both Android and iOS operating systems.

I have to say I always do Andriod first and then really really struggle getting any motivation to do it on iOS.

I use a 3GS, 4S, Nexus and an S3 for testing. I really like the Nexus followed by the S3 simply because I like the core Android product, I find the Samsung tweaked version can sometimes be more unstable.

iOS just bores the hell out of me.

I'm biased however as I do have a fondness for Java, something the late Steve Jobs said was dead... a rather ignorant statement IMO

there is nothing new about the phones anymore, its now down to screen size and resolution and how fast they can run as many apps you can at once, think im going to wait and see what the windows 8 is like and now that 4G is starting up im sure there will be new phones from all manufactures
