My other two flat-screen TVs in the house are LG so have no issues buying their products. However I will never buy from ebuyer again on personal principles. Cost... well let's say £500 as a hard line but not going to pay for stuff I'm not going to use!

Spotted these which don't seem too bad

I have both Samsung and LG HDTV in my house, both excellent imo.

Had the LG for 3 years and no issues at all.

For gaming you've got to make sure the tv has a low input lag otherwise you notice a time delay in pressing buttons or moving the dpad and it actually doing something on screen making games unplayable.

Sounds extreme what examples and models can you describe?
I think most people connect by HDMI cable, shouldn't be any lag there.

It's all to do with the software in the tv that makes the picture smooth etc. it creates the delay before displaying it on the screen. Most plasma Tvs are better for games rather than LCD.

I'm very aware of the issue with monitors and refresh rate, and I guess the input lag manifests in a similar fashion.
Reading up, the Viera L32E5B is very poor in terms of input lag.

Totally agree with this. My Xbox has only been on 1080p Samsung tvs (with game mode) and the picture is stunning without fail. 42" Samsung downstairs, old series 1 26" flat screen upstairs. Even the old one hasn't missed a beat, even with my old Xbox on it.

Just buy it from the right place. And do your research on the specs. Some has ethernet/wireless connectivity now.

Refresh rate is a different thing but you've got the right idea.

HDTV uk website is very good for reviews and tests for input lag.

Sorry I didn't mean refresh rate I meant response time.

That's surprising as techradar gave it 5* good job you read up about the input lag.

It's frightening that you can spend a lot of money on a new tv and it will be crap playing games on it.

my particular Panasonic viera has a "game" preset which takes any lag to a minimum of 38ms, quite handy. Don't know if this is a feature on all viera tv's though.

It seems that most TVs aren't really reviewed for gaming. Some of the "game" modes reduce the input lag but even enabled it's +50ms.

What about a large (27") TV/monitor? Might be better suited for gaming if a little smaller.

Plasma Tvs should have less input lag.
