We change our cars every 3 years
so more than likely it will be another CR-V*
and another Civic or Jazz as the 2'nd car

* will be looking at the forthcoming Volvo XC60 and the audi Q5 aswell

I am hoping for the FCX to be launched...
Reason? I like the style and its being hybrid. Plus it is a Honda!

Well your very lucky Broders, I get to change mine every 7 - 8 years so I really could have done with buying a car that isnt always going wrong, god knows what will happen when the civic is out of warranty.

I think my next car will have to be used and I will probably go back to a Ford, never had any problems at all with mine, neither do my friends and neither did my dad and he only ever had Fords.

Have driven two fords 1 Hire car and 1 dealer tester

the hire car I had for 4 months through work - it broke down TWICE
in was a 1.8 focus (what a piece of junk)

I did once consider buying a Ford ( Think I was drunk) test drive was o.k
though the boot release was broken and the passenger electric window
just didn't work a rather sheepish dealer humbly apologised and asked if I wanted him to give me a price for changing - I politly declined his offer

On the Whole do not like Fords they tend to copy and not lead in the design stakes don't think much about the quality, reliability, or the dealers
or the heavy depreciation

I would consider other makes such as Mazda, Land Rover,Volvo(yes I know all owned by ford - for the moment in LR's case) also Toyota, Nissan, VW, BMW, Audi, & MB

Only just got this one!

Keeping it forever.

It's diesel, so should get a few hundred thousand miles out of it.

The Ford Focus was the first of its kind when released back in 1998, it was created as much enthusiasm as the civic I should know I bought one and people came up to me all the time asking if they could take peep inside etc, no teething problems for a new design I had it 7 years it went back to the dealership for service only and two recalls in the beginning which didnt affect my car and were minor.

The dealers were great friendly and helpful and as for heavy depreciation I got £3k for it trade in when it was 7years old. I enquired in january about my trading in my civic I was being offered ridiculous amounts for it as low as £10k from Vauxhall and only £11k from Honda and that was when it was 7 months old !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I paid £15,500 for it so how is that for depreciation?

I had an escort before the Focus for years and surpirse surprise it never ever let me down or went wrong I only traded that in because I inherited some money and could afford the new Focus.

I could go for a face lifted diesel Civic, especially if they improve some stuff in the face lift.

Depreciation works in strange ways the best time to sell a car is when it is 3 years old with around 36,000miles on the clock Honda's are one of the best makes at keeping their value - I did go into a more detailed explanation of depreciation a while back and I would go into it again but it would probably be wasted on you

The escort didn't have many if any fancy electronics, it had simple suspension set up and probably took an hour to make

You could have bought a new focus or s-max or mondeo and had as many problems as you have had with your Honda ( as many many Ford owners will know) or you could have bought your Honda and been one of the many many many happy owners with no problems

Just look at all the official stats Honda is always near the top if not at the top where as ford is fairly low down

Right Rant over - sometime I wonder why I bother

but then I remember it is because I am right and you are wrong

Have been thinking about this for some time, as I get to change them annually, I think this time it may have to be another Type R for me, it is such a great car, so involving to drive, went to look at a Porsche Cayman today, but I think I can have just as much fun in my Honda.

It does have its problems, but once you get on it, with the revs flying it is hard to beat, smiles per mile are high and that is what I want out of my car.

I always buy young used cars, drive them 'till they almost fall apart (12-13 years old), and then get a new(er) one. Since we have 2 cars, that means we buy one every 5 to 6 years.
Supposed that fuel is still available by then, that it's affordable too, that the government hasn't decided to squeeze car owners even more, that congestion hasn't gone so bad that it's faster to ride a bike,.... (and a few more assumptions) then I....don't know what to get yet. Probably another Honda. Probably another diesel. Probably something bigger than the Civic. Probably an Accord.

K.

TC: I drive a focus diesel in the weekends sometimes, it's my "shared company car". How can you ever ever (ever ever ever...) prefer that thing compared to a civic?!?
I seriously thought you would get a Megane...
