We have an opportunity to build for the future and shouldnt waste it! 1) Sack the manager 2) Sack the team 3) Start again 4) Concede that 4 4 2 is the only way England can play 5) Never EVER pick lampard and Gerrard together again. Simply get in a new manager and promote the u21's and give them a run of senior games. The u21's did us proud in their Euro tournament recently, they deserve a full crack of the whip. One day, England will win a tournament, may that day come in our lifetime! |

I was a supporter of McClaren as I thought that he would maybe bring some stability without the media. But I am afraid he botched up tonight. It is time for him to fall on his sword and admit that he got it wrong.
I actually feel for Scott Carson. He should never have been put in that position. He should never have had to go out on his second appearance in such an important match. Robinson or even James should have played. Beckham showed that he is still number one on the right hand side. But the system played tonight didn't give him many chances. When, and I ask this genuinely has 4-5-1 ever worked for England. Time for a good old change for me. Go get a manager who has actually won something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Greetings form Croatia.
Well, you can blame Mclarens tactics all you want, but the main reason why you lost wasn't his incompetents but a fact that we were a far better team then England was and we deserved to win, and what you displayed through out the qualifications you just didn't deserve to qualify. Before the match English media and players were arrogant as they usually are with comments like: who are we playing against anyway? And with comments like none of the Croatian players deserve by far to play in the English team for an example...well maybe in terms of pay and worldwide fame but when it comes to devotion, playing with heart and character none of the English players deserve to play in the Croatian team. You may have great individuals on paper but as a collective I'm sorry, but you suck and that's it. Hope for your sake you'll learn some lessons form this or on the other hand you can stay arrogant and think of yourselves as unbeatable giants but hey, you haven't won anything since the 70s. Wake up. |

Sorry if its too harsh but it's better to face reality, admit problems and weaknesses and thus really work on their improvements then to stay and live in a fantasy world that England is one of the best teams in the world, but currently they are not, you need to prove that on the pitch with results, not with names of players in the starting eleven.

As much as it pains me to admit it, you are right and our players need to realise the reason they are famous and live such a fortunate lifestyle is because they are paid to do a job, but better still regain the passion and desire to do well for their/our country. |

I absolutely agree we were outplayed, and more annoyingly out-thought.
Croatia defend well, and attack with pace. So McClaren has a big but slow back 4. How many times have Lampard and Gerrard played together and done well? Very few, yet he persists on using the pair of them. They cancel each other out. Gerrard in particular hard a very bad game. Neither Cole or SWP beat the defenders to get in a decent cross from wide. Crouch is a good player, but to get the best from him he needs to get the ball facing goal, not with his back to goal. Defoe consistantly ran the wrong way when Crouch flicked the ball on. Becks tried hard, and showed the rest how to cross, but had to play as a full back for too long covering for Richards. I had no problem playing Carson, he had done well in the Premiership and the game last week. Who would have thought he would make such a **** up so early on. England should do better with the players available, but last night the tactics were wrong in the first half. Second half was better, but by then it was too late. England didn't deserve to go through on the basis of not being good enough in too many of the qualification games. I hope the FA sort it out, the problems go very deep, from grass roots coaching through to the number of "foriegners" playing in the Premiership, and the amount of money paid to players. Don't put money on anything changing though. Whilst continuing the rant, what was going on with the Wembley pitch? The American Football game was over 3 weeks ago, yet the lines were still clearly visible. They must have used Hammerite! Why have a roof if it is not going to be closed to keep out the rain (I don't suppose anyone thought we might get some rain in November!) |

England Out of Europe
I hear that TomTom and other Sat Nav manufacturers are recalling all units as England is no longer to be found in Europe.
