Help with this dent.
Hi Guys,
Just need some help. I park my car on the road near my building. Got a surprise today morning with this dent on the drivers side door. Do you think it could be fixed ? This is a 2007 1.8 model. |

Gutted! This looks too bad for a dent removal company, maybe a body shop can fill and paint it .

Most of it will pull but it looks to me like the metal is probably stretched, if that is the case, then it will require filling and a respray.
You have nothing to lose by pulling it or having it pulled though. At the worst it needs filling, at the best it might fix it and in between you might get it out but be left with a small impression you can live with. |

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your replies. Went to couple of repair centres. One of them suggested new door skin and cost of 500 quid, and others suggested filling and spraying and cost of 350 quid. I am confused whether to go for repair or new door skin. I have got 5 years no claim so I dont really want to claim insurance. Any suggestions ? |

No probs. A Honda Dealer I think, people ask them for parts and they always seem to be cheap(est)

I would go for a repair or a second hand door.
It is a lot of work to put a door skin on,roughly 3 hours labour in most bodyshops plus time for stripping door and other panels for painting. It involves grinding the old skin off then flanging (hammering) the new skin onto the door frame. Deffo not a job to try yourself and if it's not done properly with the correct anti-corrosion spray and sealer through time it will rust and rot the new skin and the door frame. Have a search on YouTube for outer door skin removal for an idea into the work involved. If you have ever seen a car door with rust along the bottom or right round the door it's an indication that it's had a new skin at some point. Last edited by dobe; 16th March 2012 at 19:08. |
