NEW Honda Civic ES (I-Shift) / major problem
Hi All
New tho this, but got my Honda Civic on Wednesday - all ok to start (except gear change appears jolty)? Anyway , on Saturday Power Management Light appeared, along with VSA, Battery, and varios other lights appeared! Took it back to dealer, and after about an hour they said they"hoped" it was a dodgy fuse / back connection as there were so many faults showing! All ok - or so I thought. Sunday - again lights came on but when engine warmed up all went out except VSA, so went out as planned - but then later the same day while driving on motorway, all lights + ABS Light + Air Bag Light - then the dashboard started flickering and I lost control of the power assisted steering wheel!! Anyway , pulled over safely and called AA etc... the car is currently in Dealer being repaired. If when the car is returned the fault continues, can I by law ask for another 'new' car?? Also has anyone else had any of the above problems? I am interested in the gear changing, as am hoping it is part of the fault? Help please |

It sounds like it will be one of the major electrical junctions that's loose - most likely in the fuse box by the battery. I wouldn't worry about it too much, since when it's tightened all will be ok.
The gearbox, however, is a notorious item. Some get on with it, others don't. It is an automated manual, and those who don't get on with it find it can be jerky especially at low speed. I would suggest talking to the dealer about it and getting a drive in another car to see if it's the same. you need to understand that I shift is not an automatic
it is also not as good as vw's dsg system which has two clutches You need to adapt a smooth driving style with the i-shift ( be at one with it there are some who do not like it but most owners are very happy |
