We might have the odd (ahem!) moan on here, about the odd niggle etc. but in nearly all cases the way that problems are dealt with are quick, efficient and acceptable. I guess its like anything, they have probably anticipated some issues and have resolutions all ready, its the out of the ordinary ones that always throw up the biggest issues.

I know - I was not a Happy Bunny, especially as close scrutiny of the Civ while I was out at the dealers revealed a spot of "rubbing bumper" syndrome (!), but at this point I cannot complain at the way the 'screen problem has been handled!

Did they say anything about the bumper, or have you got to get it in to look at that? I bet you are the first incident they have of this happening.

They are doing something to my bumper on the 18th. Really need to find out what exactly.

Blame it on my advanced years and inability to multi-task richierich, but I didn't broach the subject with them - it is only a very small patch of paint worn away at the moment - and I considered the windscreen to be ever-so-slightly more important at the time!

I don't know if current designs do it, but I have had a windscreen fall in my lap a few years back!!

Hi trekker, I hope things get sorted for you. Did the dealer explain their reasons for saying no? If the windscreen has no stone chips (as you've said) I can't see the reason whay they would not replace the windscreen.

Good luck.

I have heard of those cracks happening in winter. I see people pouring hot water onto a frosty screen as a easy way to de-ice. I sometimes consider showing them the error in their ways, but I just leave them to it.

Good luck getting your screen replaced

The basic technique is OK, but use cold water not hot. It puts much less stress on the glass. Then follow with a light spray of de-icer if it's really cold.

I prefer an ice scraper. Leaves the screen ice free and dry!

Well, I'm meeting two (Cripes! ) gents from Honda at the dealers tomorrow morning at 10.30a.m. to (hopefully) resolve the issue - fingers crossed all round....

Good luck Trekker San. Don't forget to bow, but not lower than them apparantly.

Trekker-san (as you now seem to be known)!

What was the result of your interview with the two gents from Honda? Have you got a new windscreen?

Hope the trip to the dealer was worthwhile.

The windscreen specialist from the production plant in Swindon established that the crack was caused by an impact causing a hole 2mm diameter - therefore replacement of the windscreen is very much down to me I'm afraid

that's a fairly significant sized hole!

Were they able to point it out to you?

basically, are you happy with their diagnosis - that sort of impact should be visible to the naked eye
