In my opinion - no.

I dont miss the wiper at all - treat the glass section with rain-x or similar and its fine.

You'll soon get used to it.

Same here, have never had a rear wiper, I honestly don't see the point of them as long as your car is cleaned regularly.

Not a problem, as long as you don't mind giving the rear screen an occasional wipe.

In my experience it is no different to a saloon not having a rear wiper as road spray does not collect on the rear window as it does in a straight backed car (eg Golf, Audi A3), no one ever moans that a Passat or a BM 3 series has no rear wiper, so IMO there is no need on a civic.

If the lower rear window had a little heater element in, it would be brilliant - not sure if it would work on plastic though.

No problem. The Civic has excellent side mirrors. Which is mandatory, since the rear view is rather limited.

only owning the civic for 5 days i expected this to be a big problem after the golf which has great visability.

All in all i dont find it an issue, sometimes i would like more rear view but think its cause i was used to the golf. As for reversing, nah its fine, people in the car say it must be hampering cause of the way i reverse.

Im like its a new car i dont want to scratch it

No problem here either, I'm also impressed with the original wipers on the Windscreen. Bought the car in March 2007, have now done nearly 15000 miles in one of the wettest years we've had for ages and still on the original wipers and they are fine. The Passat (which had similar 'longlife' yeh really wiperblades) needed new ones every 3 months.

Rear Wiper

Had my civic since Dec 12th and thought the same, (previous car Focus) but no problems, a bit annoying when lashing down and stuck in town traffic, but like other people say "you get used to it"

Also I am yet to treat mine to rain x or similar

This was one of my worries too, but according to the type S brochure I have here, "The rear windscreen has a water repellent hydrophylic coating, so there's no need for a wiper". So there.

Look at me answering questions and I havent even got one

Not really 'cause you don't see much anyway and it would probably spoil the aerodynamics.
In many "coupe-ish" cars it's better to get used to looking through the side mirrors, one real drawback is reversing, this car really needs parking sensors as standard

It is not a problem at all. You will find that especially on motorways the aerodynamics keep the rear screen clear and clean, it works superbly and in 6000 miles I have not missed the wiper at all
