My old 2002 Peugeot 307 was MUCH better built than the Civic!

I have not thought of this before, but it has actually only annoyed me on longer trips.

Not sure if this is because it actually makes more noise or if it is because I am stuck listening to it for longer.

The relays are not cheap at all, at least mine are from Denso - what's cheap is the sound insulation alas... I guess you got a petrol, in the diesel you hardly have a chance to hear it. If you want to you can silence the relay by pieces of a sound deadening mat, but I don't know if it won't run too hot
Another method is the old Peugeot/Citroen way, with noisy relays well away from the cabin, in the engine compartment, this again may (and does) lead to corrosion of contacts and failure... I guess we have to live with such things in this price class

I can hardly hear mine - probably got the music too loud.

I accept a click when it on intermittent, just one of those things, certainly doesn't get any louder with continued use on mine though.

And this morning proved that !
