However, is yours Diesel TC?? The Diesel isn't a proper exhaust rather a 'fake one', and so would not heat up nearly as much as a petrol would, this could explain the rust!

i think its a bit harsh calling all honda dealers a bit thick, especially considering that the rust on the car isnt even on the exhaust!!!!
the dealers i have dealt with have always been very helpful & very knowledgeable, otherwise they wouldnt last very long.

Thoughts and dealer support

I am not getting at my dealer at all.....Just passing on the news.... Still waiting to see if anyone else has the same problem and why worse on one side than the other?
Photo at dealer..... well if that is the "rules" Ok...I feel sure it is rust and will be sorted. Will be a change from the faulty fuel cap, dead battery, rust windscreen surround etc.
Would I buy another Civic (after a Pugeot 307 with no problems last time)... Not sure. But what instead......?
Like many diesel owners I never seem to get a hot engine but after 40 years of car ownership...It is not my fault!
Sinclair C5 never had these problems... just got squashed on the road.

Mines the same - they couldn't be more helpful and in fact have repaired things for free that were not covered by the warranty.

I'm sure that this exhaust will get sorted

I'm sure theyll repair it free.
However, may ask how often you wash your car?
It does look particularly dirty for reported short journeys

I'm on a water meter, and just wash the car in my underwear to save me showering that day, that saves money and the enviroment!

Does not matter where it is - my point was rust is rust, and most people can regonise it with their eyes.

Is that because they (Honda) don't trust the dealers due to fraudulent claims in the past?

they possibly want photographic evidence to try to prevent this happening again on this or later models

Because Honda bears the cost, they need to make the decision.

Canīt have someone else doing that.

1. Youre right its OK for some!!
2. No I'm not on a water meter but pressure washers dont use much water anyway.
3. I dont use a sponge because it fills with grit (Microfibre Mitt)
4. I dont use a watering can because I dont want anyone thinking I'm tight...You know .....being from Yorkshire!!

Agree, pressure washers use less than hose but watering can even less I think
That will be Yorkshire Grit no doubt!!!
Not tight at all. Saving the planet, looking after the future, being thrifty. Bet you have the cleanest drive in the area, or how about a dip in the Leeds Liverpool?
Perhaps the exhaust is suffering from the "Saltaire!"

I would give the new replacement a coat of wax, just in case.

As for the dealers, yes they are very polite and helpful, even after they order the wrong part and you have to visit their dealership 3 times. I suppose you get free coffee while you are awaiting those long hours for your car, and end up wasting 3 mornings getting a simple problem fixed! (which might I add is still not fixed!)

Coffee & Barbour

If the drinks are anything like the ones in my dealers slot machine... forget it.
Still no-one else with the same problem? Find that very odd.
Waiting to see if the dealer's picture is better than mine...
Coat of wax.. You mean buy it a Barbour.... gosh.... bit up market for me even though I do live in Cheshire

Bit of both me thinks, could be a bit of a money spinner if the dealer decides on their own but Honda pays the costs

Have to say that the Swindon dealers (old & new) have always been spot on - had 2 warranty issues in 18 years of H's (1 corroded wheels after 2 years & 1 body rust on a Rover built Concerto after 5 years) and both were dealt with swiftly and courteously. - Oh yeah, sorry St T, but the coffee is free and not bad down here.

And Robbie's car is always so well detailed that he's had 2 job offers - 1 at the Dealership to work in PDI and one at Shell cleaning forecourts. LOL
Horses for courses I say, if I clean the car at the weekend the kids get sent out to help which leaves more than a bit of grit in a sponge to worry about - thank god it's a company car.
