boot lock
Not heard of that one before!!
Could still be linked to the micro switch in the driver's door though. If the Stealer can't find a fault code them get them to change it anyway, although they probably know about it from the Honda bulletins. Good luck !!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

I think that my boot lock solenoid is also playing up on my car, they still have nt fixed this issue and my car is only 7 months old. When cold, you somethimes need to press the boot open button a couple of times before it opens.

I rang the dealers, and they have never heard of boot's that won't open. I can bring the car in on Tuesday but until then I'll just have to be very annoyed.
Is there any other way to get in there? I would hate crawling into the back seat to get my stuff out. Could it be a fuse? I'll have to take a day off from work because otherwise they'll probably scratch the boot all over. Sigh Since I don't know what a boot latch is...where is it? Please say it's nowhere near the interior and no panels need be removed? update: Well okay then, it just opened on me using the press-your-remote-frantically technique... If it's the micro switch on the door mechanism playing up then the door panel has to come off on the driver's side.
![]() They could not fix the water leak as the seals on the rear window were sound. I fixed it my self by sealing the top of the interior top plastic moulding with black silicone sealant!!!!!! ![]() I've got rid of the car now. PHEW!!!!!! I couldn't even think of what the repair bills would have been when the car was out of warranty!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I've found out something "interesting". Notwithstanding I'm taking the car in next Tuesday, this might give the experts an insight as to what may be the cause.
Yesterday (may 7th) 18pm: stopped at my gf. Boot wouldn't open. Tried lock unlock a few times (about 10-15 attempts), but to no avail. 18.30 pm: again no luck. +- 19 pm: drove home (it's a 35 min drive). Locked the car as usual. 19.40 pm: no dice. +- 21 pm: boot opend up at the first try. Today (I timed it to the minute here): 8.15 am: Left for work. Boot wouldn't open. 8.32 am: Arrived at work. Boot still sealed shut. 9.03 am: boot won't open 10.05 am: boot opens up! 11.04 am: still able to open the boot. Going for a 2 hour interval now. 13.03 pm: still good. Up to the three hour interval. Well then, if the car is left alone for about an hour after I have driven and locked it, the boot opens up. Now, I'll be testing every hour whether it will open. Then every 2 hours...etc... It seems that after some amount of time the lock becomes unreponsive again. @vivid bluey, they did find out what is was eventually? Was it the switch or the boot mechanism itself? Oh, found it, the swith. Is that the same as the solenoid? Last edited by Jeroen1000 : 8th May 2008 at 11:04. |

Your dealer is clearly not in the know or doesn't care!!
When I had the problem it was a known fault and I had the latch assembly (part No. 7211OSMGE01) replaced. Ring Honda customer services for more information. In theory the car is not the road worthy with such a fault. Honda agreed and offered a hire car until resolved whilst I did not accept the offer it took a while to get the part. |

To make the story complete: at 16 pm it still opened. At 16.27 pm ,I was at the bank, but the boot refused to open. When I got home about 2 hours later, it opened again. At 21 pm I went for the petrol station but the boot would not open when I left, nor when I got to the station. Normally, a hour of waiting would resolve this, but up to now I haven't been able to get it open... So I believe that it may not be the latch (if the latch is the boot lock button), but more like an electrical fault, pushing me toward the microswitch theory. I don't want them messing in my boot and remove my driver's side panel Last edited by Jeroen1000 : 9th May 2008 at 10:05. |

My problems were exactly as you describe following a period of intermitent failures when the tailgate failed to unlock the problem then went solid i.e., the boot stayed locked. I understand that the latch assembly which controls all the locks in the car is located in the drivers door panel. In my case it took about 45 minutes to replace once the part arrived. Your dealer should know all about this problem.

Went to the dealers, but they knew nothing about the problem at hand. Unfortunately, the boot decided to work when the car was in.
They were hinting I should drop by, again, when it fails and make an appoinment. I asked them they'd look into the matter and gave them the part number Scorcher kindly supplied. I look it up in the Honda EPC, thus also giving them the correct part number for the Type R. I hope it doesn't take weeks and weeks before it comes in. Scorcher, was there any damage to your door panel after replacement? And additional rattles? Time for me to wait it out now |
