Boot lock stuck

Had my boot lock up on me today!! Went to open it & nothing! Another known fault. took the cover off the inside of the boot & used the manual release latch. This opened the boot but the lock still didn't work.
I lost my rag & kept pressing the lock / unlock remote buttons!! There was a double click from the boot latch & now it's working! I've still got problems with the cold start so it's back to the dealer again. I think me & this crappy Honda are soon to be parting!! Only had it 6 weeks even though it's a 2006. Loads of people thought the car was great until they spoke to me!!!
Crap!!!!!!!!

I had this problem back in December 06. It apparently was a known fault even then. To resolve it the Dealer had to change a part in the switch controls in the front door. I remember at the time it took a while for the part to arrive. The part required is the latch assembly part No. 72110SMGE01 I only know this because I had to chase Honda UK as my Dealer had problems getting help.

Angry Boot Lock UPDATE!!

Car's been into the stealers today for the boot that won't open. I told them about the door module & they were aware about that unit but have said that their Diagnostics show that the boot lock solenoid has failed!!)?)!!

Got to wait for the parts now. 1-2 days if in stock at Swindon, upto a week if it's got to come from Belgium!!(?)!! They want to keep the car for a day just in case it's not that!!!!

Boot

Hi Nic. How old is your car? Do you know if it's the door or Boot solenoid yet?

Mine has just done the exact same thing this morning- I could hear the lock mechanism in the boot as I tried to open the boot but it was refusing to budge! After locking & unlocking the car about 10 times it decided to open. Not good when you are trying to get a pram into the car and it's p**ing down. It has been OK since this morning- was frosty last night, so don't know if that was the problem.

Hope it is not the start of an ongoing issue- we need the boot to work to get a pram into!!

Hi!! Quick update. Stealer says it's the boot solenoid & not the door module; well his diagnostic computer told him!!! Car back in on Thursday but also now mine has a leak!!! Seems to be coming from the top seal somewhere & running out of the top trim & down the inside of the window? My boot pi**es water out when I open it up after it's rained or I've washed it!!

I was at Brighton Honda yesterday and someone came in complaining that his boot wouldn't open. This site is so useful as all problems get reported by someone here. Nice to know you are not alone when problems occur.

Mine leaking too now!! Went out this morning to finf the centre section of the rear lights full of water. When I opened the boot, water p****d out from the panels on the boot lid. Went too dealers this afternoon who told me it needed new seals & a boot latch.

I made it pretty clear I was not happy as the car was only in a month ago to have the centre light section and seals replaced. Either there is a design issue or the work was not carried out properly in the first place! Car booked in for next Thursday so will see the outcome then. ARGHHH!!

I'd get your car into the garage pronto, had the same problem and it got more intermitent, eventually total failure and it's a pain in the a$$ ! Needed new boot latch, or so they told me.

Amazing the amount of faults this car has , bloomin amazing !

Update on my Boot Latch!!! Not been able to open the boot for 2 weeks now. Car has been in the Stealers for 2 days now. They initially said it was the boot latch & not the door module that was faulty. No news from them today so I called in tonight. Blank expressions!!! Basically they don't know what it is now!!! Fitted new boot latch but it didn't cure it. Followed the Honda instructions for testing & that doesn't work!! They also said that the Honda Repair manual isn't correct!!!
So now they've got to trace all the wiring loom back till they find the fault. Then they've got to find the leak!!!
What a SH**E CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : mad2:

Update on mine- boot still opens when it wants to- Phoenix Honda were supposed to collect the car last Thursday to replace latch and light seals (again!) No-one turned up and when my called them she was told it wasn't down for collection. This made me pretty mad cos I stood in the showroom and arranged it the previous week! Car now going in on monday- just as well as pram base is currently stuck in boot and centre section of rear lights is half full of water! Hopefully this time the water leaks are fixed properly.

We love the car but this one problem has dragged on and the dealer is not doing itself any favours- i will certainly be going elsewhere when the car is due for a service.

NOT HAPPY!

just a thought...

do your boots actually close easily?
Or do they often need a really firm smack?

My thinking is:
If the rubber bungs are screwed out too far, then this can lead to the "won't shut easily" problem.
However, once shut, said bungs would be (possibly) forcing the D on the boot up dead tight against the latch part of the lock.

Which might then be putting it under too much strain to be able to open.

I could then also be leading to a bigger than expected gap around the boot lid, leading to the seal not sealing, and letting water in.

This is of course all in theory, and could be something which the dlr should spot...
But it wouldn't show up on a diag computer screen...

Mine now seems to be fixed- the centre section of the rear lights was replaced as was the boot latch. I have given the area a good soaking with the hose and there doesn't seem to be any leaks. I'm sure the leaky boot was what caused the latch to fail- as water was running down inside the boot all round that area.

My rear latch now finally fixed!!!!!!! Culprit was a micro switch in the drivers door that operates the rear latch !?!?!? The stealer said the tested the boot for leaks & found none-all seals intact. They thought the water was back tracking off the inner lip on opening & running into the rear inner top plastic cover? I've run black silicone sealant on the upper inner edge next to the glass & So Far it seems to be working!!! 21st Century car being fixed with silicone sealant!!!!!

Today my car has developed the opposite problem to the boot not opening. Every time it is started the boot pops open! You can hear the latch release as soon as you press the starter. The first time I didn't notice (the music was on a bit loud) until the warning appeared on the dash. Another visit to dealer coming up!!
Has anyone else had this problem?
