Angry Road Salt and No Rear Wiper!!

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of the fact that, in winter, when you drive along a salted road and the rear screens pick up the salt water mix leaving an opaque skin on the window.
The only way to clean them is to get out with the hose, or go to a carwash.

It would be a lot easier just to turn the stalk and have a rear wiper come on...but anyway does anyone have a solution for keeping the rear screen cleaner as its driving me crazy.

Rear Wipers

I asked my local shop if they had any rear wipers for my car. I was given these:

Just keep a spray-bottle of vinegar/water in your boot, 5 min's work with kitchen roll and the spray, thats all I do.

Side windows and mirrors get covered as well. It's only one more window to wipe over.

Seems to work with me, the vinegar not only neutralises the alkali road salt, but also cuts through grease and grime, (great in the Kitchen too).

Thanks, I have many of these (a tip, don't use that mixture in your windscreen bottle it wrecks the rubber seals).

I found that rain X really helped, a good product. Salty dirty water hose it off the car as quick as you can, as it has been said here many times.

Rainx is great i love it, how ever int he spec sheet doesnt Honda say the rear screen is a 'Hydrophillic' screen or we talking about using rainx not for it Hydrophillic properties but for its 'barrier cream' like reasons.

Ha ha ark at me i sound like a professor gone wrong

I tried rainx on my linen suit and it didn't work!!! Thanks!!
The plus side is that I now have a teflon like coated suit and when I do spill red wine on it, it just sheets off!!
Great Success!!

If you use vinegar you need to make sure that you clean it all off once it's done its job as vinegar is corrosive.
