Irritating wiper noise

Hi,

Since a few weeks, I received my brand new Civic 2.2 Sport. So far I didn't experience any of the typical issues from the 2006/2007 Civics, except the dashboard cracking, and condensation in rear lights.

But this post is about something I didn't really find in the Wiki or the Forum: there seems to be too much friction between the wipers and the window glass which produces an irritating sound. It's about the same effect as if you are wiping a window that has already dried up, don't know exactly how to describe it. This also happens when it's raining pretty hard, when the wipers return...

Of course I talk my dealer about this, but for the moment I have very little spare time and I'd like to be prepared...

Thanks for the hint, but I didn't quite find exactly the same problem that I'm having here.

I did wonder, as you said you'd looked - but there was a good varied set of issues in the search results so I hoped you might get lucky

As I didn't find anything specific on the wiki or the forum about my wiper issue, here's the solution that the dealer's technician applied.

The first time I went in for this they didn't find any particular problem with the wipers, but they agreed there was a problem with the wipers not going smoothly. They offered to change wipers but I had to come back later for this. OK, few weeks later, another - smarter - technician immediately told that the issue was the wipers positioning (wrong angle) towards the wind screen. Now, wipers are changed and repositioned and everything is fine.

Now, when I looked back at http://www.civinfo.com/wiki/index.php?title=Windscreen_rattles in the Wiki. Is this the same than my wipers problem? May be a few words extra explanation in the wiki item might help.

while I chatted with a honda expert about another issue (wiper engine making frog noise) he mentioned that wipers are made of a different material than usual ones, and bump up while moving if you use some washing liquid with a given composition. try one which aims at degreasing the screen, and/or does not leave a greasy film on it.

I know some folks add a few drops of glycerine for every fillup to avoid wiper noise, my "method" is to just use water with a shot of "Pril" and my wipers aren't farting

I hope you use distillated water, not one straight from tap: you may end up with calcite and other materials initially disolved in water accumulating, notably in the pump.
