Hi Folks,
I know this is probably being very pickey but.... I got my new 1.8SE 5dr in January. One thing that is really bugging me at the moment is that when I adjust my seat to a comfortable driving position I cannot adjust the steering wheel to a position where it does not cover some part of the lower display. I currently have it as high as it will go but in this position I cannot see the top of the lower display. No big deal you might say except for the poor oncoming motorists at night who are blinded by my main beam as I am unaware when it is on as I cannot see the display. Anyone else have this problem? Can it be fixed? (please no smart replies re lowering seat) Or do I just live with it until I change my car in another 2yrs? If so it will not be to another Civic. My issue is that the seat doesn't quite go low enough for my liking... What is it that is stopping you from lowering the seat? Do you feel you are losing visibility in some way if you lower it?

(See above re no smart replies re lowering seat)
It is the only position that seems to support my legs in a comfortable driving position. As I drive approx 200 miles a day I need to be comfortable. A Feat which my previous Golf performed well. Last edited by EDDIE2; 9th March 2008 at 14:21. |

I have experienced exactly the same thing as you with regard to the main beam warning light & cannot see it in my prefered driving position. I think the warning light is poorly sited on the dash & have never had this problem on any previous car.
Can't find a solution for me in terms of a driving position so I suspect you're stuck with it too ! |

I have tried all possible combinations and this is the only seat position that gives me the correct level of comfort.
If I push the seat back I can no longer reach the gear shift or any other instruments with ease and as previously stated because of the distances I travel, comfort is priority. Sitting on the floor or with your seatback tilted back might be ok if you are cruising around a town centre or car park, but is no good for either comfort or safety on long journeys. I find it somewhat incredible that any car manufacturer can make a car that allows you to raise your seat to a comfortable position but does not allow you to adjust the steering wheel to enable you to see all the instrumention. My first impressions of the Civic are that it was built for style and not functionality. If anyone knows how I can raise the steering wheel by half an inch, please let me know. Honda take note for any further models:- Make further steering wheel adjustment available. Improve build quality. Improve fuel consumption. Improve handling. Oh hang on ....... in fact use the Golf as a much superior benchmark. |

Sorry, but I have to ask this, did you have a good long test drive of the Civic before you bought it?
Were you not aware of this before you got it? |

I have the same problem - that I can't see half of the lower display when I've got the wheel set low down.....just the same problem I had in my previous Focus.
No biggy, really! |

Sounds like that's what you wanted anyway!! Each to our own I suppose!
I can normally tell when my main beam is on....as it makes the view a whole lot brighter!!! |
