Re-sprayed front end!

Hi,

After about 5 months of constant stone chip gathering on my Milano Red, I finally got my dealer involved and we came to an agreement on the cost for a bonnet and wing re-spray, one which I was happy with anyway.
Today I got my car back and it looks like new again.
It looks like a good job Colour match and so on, I will let you know how it compares to the Honda paint and keep you informed.

Joe

Let's hope it is a bit more resistant to chipping now.

What's the colour match like in the dark under street lighting That'll be the real test!!

I think that it may well be a little more resistant to stone chips.
The robot sprayer at the factory, is only as good as the silly b-gger
who inputs the information for it to copy.
A good paintshop guy, uses his experience and his eyes.

To be fair to the programer, he is under instructions to input,- " give the cars the minimum coat thicknesses".
I believe, every now and then, a human does a complete car spray and the computer copies and stores his exact actions, down to the compressor settings.
Audi use a little machine no larger than a torch, which can colour match spray the plastic parts to the metal parts to within + or - 0.5%

P.S. I wonder if Honda would like to subscibe.

That's my fear but it was annoying me so much I thought it must be worth a shot.

RE :-my above post Joey.
I think Topcat will confirm that her car was much better, after it had been resprayed by a human.

Unfortunately I did have to pay but it was a lot cheaper than if I would have had it done without their help.

It was obvious that going through Honda wasn't going to get me anywhere.

I'm sure it will be a lot better now though. As JTL says a robot is no substitute for a time served sprayer!!!

I was planning (weather permitting!) to give the car a good wash and wax, I was just wondering should I leave it for a while for the paint to harden or should I be OK?

It'll be fine, modern paints harden very quickly.

Cheers Dimpley,

I will try to take some pictures of the car when clean in the day and under a street light at night (Although I might be getting some strange looks on that one!) see what you think.

Just out of curiosity, how much was the respray? Front of my milano red civic looks like its been shot blast with a shotgun. I know theres a protective coating called venture shield advertise in motoring press and that costs £319 for the civic covering vitually the whole of the front of the car

Venture Sheild has been discussed on here before.

Take a look, it's mentioned from post number four in this thread: Anti stone chip coving for your car only £10 (merged)
