Nokias also have this feature.
I have have the Honda HFT. The auto-connect worked for two days after I got the car. Since then I have to remove the bluetooth device from my Nokia phone, search for the Honda HFT and connect to it every time I enter the car. I assume something is wrong with the Honda HFT kit.

Has anyone actually had their radio fixed?, I took my EX into the dealer last week and they compared the reception with a demo and they said the reception was the same. I spoke to customer services and they said they are aware of the issue but don't currently have a fix.

still waiting for my dealer to fix my radio plus a lot of other things and my list is starting to grow the more angry i get that nothing is geting sorted out and no one seams to care that the car is not as a twenty thousand pound car should be perfect. My dealer also tryed to tell me that the car in the show room had same issues my reply to this was that so if honda has made mistakes in its cars this then makes the faults on my car right I DONT THINK SO

What I'd like to do is compare the signal strength recieved by a good car parked by a bad car.

You can view the signal strength in all cars by using the procedure in this post:
http://www.civinfo.com/forum/showpos...32&postcount=3

This would narrow it down to either the antenna or the head unit. I just have a sneaky suspicion that it's the antenna - and I wonder if any of the dealers who have looked at one of the poor cars have done the service procedure to check all the elements of the antenna...

Mine has become steadily worse (RDS and reception for local BBC station) and after a visit to the dealers they told me they had cleaned up the earth for the antenna. Must say the RDS seems to work now but jumps from station to station - (think I need to read the manual again for a refresher)

Reception doesn't seem to have improved so further testing is required. Is there a procedure for non EX radios . . . . lowly Sport models?
What is the service procedure/is it documented?

I think a visit to an ICE specialist is called for - if I get anything useful I'll report back.

I can confidently say that any Civic's radio is far superior to that on a Corsa. It is seriously poor in both reception and quility.

And it has an external antenna!

To be honest I've had no problems at all using the radio, reception is no better or worse than any other car i've been in. Perhaps geography has a part to play?

So far its actually better than my Golf - I'm off on a longer trip tomorrow so will test it then.

Well I have now had a chance to test my radio since it has been fixed and although it is better it is far from acceptable (they cleaned the aerial earth post fixing). Still very poor reception.

It's back in on Monday - heres hoping.

Anyone in the Beds/Herts/Bucks/Northants area have a problem with BBC 3 Counties Radio - reception is very poor and seems specific to this station (would be the one I listen to most). Reception is fantastic with other vehicles!

What was done to your radio

Is there anybody who has had their radio issues successfully resolved?

What was the repair/action the dealer/you undertook?

And if it wasn't successful - what was done?

I'm afraid that I don't have the time or patience to keep going backwards and forwards to the dealer. The dealers are apparently not being supported by Honda on this, and understandably - can't help much on their own unless there is a particular failed unit/cable etc. The fact seems to be that the unit supplied is fundamentally poor, and until the whole unit is changed for a better one, I think that the dealers are stuck. Frankly - I can't see Honda doing this. Seems unusual to feel sorry for a dealer!

We read elsewhere that other manufacturers have a poor reputation for customer service, and I think we are all agreed that Honda have in the past enjoyed a good reputation. Unfortunately - they don't seem to be trying very hard to maintain it, which is a great shame.

I have a number of quite minor issues:
  1. Poor radio
  2. Poor HFT
  3. Poor voice control
  4. Intermittent wipe when washing (sometimes have to select wipe manually)
  5. Fuel filler not opening
None of these are serious, but after 3 trips to the dealer over various issues, I haven't got the time to keep doing a 10 mile each way trip in my working hours.
It is particularly annoying to find that after setting up a visit, arranging courtesy car, driving 40 miles extra, and taking up about 2 hours of my time.....all I have is an additional piece of foam that doesn't work for more that a week or two!

They will all have to wait until the next service, by which time I hope Honda will have eventually realized that ineffective pieces of foam at probably 2p each are not an appropriate fix for a 18K car - especially if they fail to do the job!

Like many others here, I think its time Honda realised that they have a few issues that need to be properly resolved - those above plus
  • Poor paint
  • Leaky windows/tailgates
  • Creaky trim

My radio has been worse the last few days, not sure why!!

I wrote to Steve Olivier a month ago, had no response at all, Sarah Roseblade from Honda CS said she was sending me a report on the paintwork on my car at the beginning of December, I didn't receive it. I have called her several times and emailed asking for a copy but have been ignored evertime.

I believe they are taking the same attitude as other companies "pass the buck til they don't give a f***"

I must say changing dealerships has changed the way I feel about my car but I will be writing again.

It sounds to me that the fix should involve an external antenna, probably top rear centre.

Shark Fin style would look OK

On Pottsy's advice we did a test on my car, drove the usual route to work where I aways get radio problems and set the radio to show the signal strength it was receiving. Even when it was receiving a strong signal it still had interference indicating it wasn't the antenna.

No its a valid thought and I assumed it was the antenna, I even considered asking for an external one to be fitted until I did that test. Thankfully the radio in the replacement Civic isn't as bad as the first Civic I had, that was unbelievable, sometimes it sounded like I was under water.

But as I say it has been worse the last few days prompting me to buy some new cds - old stuff a real blast from the past which has bought a smile to my face

Obviously then the aerial in the rear window is fine which means a major upheaval at the back isn't required.

Hopefully my EX in March will be OK.
