Clicking sound rear pillar area

Hi,

I need help with some clicking sounds from the rear pillar area, which have developed lately when I go over humps.
Both sides.
Sounds like coming from the rear pillar trim or right behind - in shoulder level, but it could of course be a sound reflection from the hard plastic fascia. Anyway the clicks sounds quite open - not muffled.

Anybody experienced something similar, or got suggestions to what's the problem?

Don't think so, have tried to "arrange" them different ways. Will give them some attention tough.
Could it be some parts of the belt mechanism?
Or any moving parts of the rear air bag(s)?
Will pay a visit to the dealer Thursday - nice to feed him with some qualified suggestions if possible.

It is usually the metal bit och the belt which clicks against the plastic interior.

Hope it is not the airbags - that doesn´t sound safe! LOL

Hi GHGH, had a similar 'clicking' sound in my Type S, almost like someone clicking their fingers!!!! sounded as if i was coming from within the roof lining. Took it to my dealer and was advised they would need the car for 3-4 days as the whole roof lining would need to be removed to trace the sound. Anyway, decided to check the whole car for myself and found the noise was being caused by the rear seats, i wrapped some black insulating tape around the metal clasp that the seat back locks in (u shaped baracket visible from the boot) and also placed some tape around the seat base frame where it locks into the floor lock. Also place some foam strips under the legs in the plastic locking mount and hey presto no clicking noise, also seems to have got rid of a few other rattles........peace and quiet at last. Hope this helps

Thanks!

This is exactly what I'm thinking also!
Just got back from a test drive, and when I folded down the rear backs - silence ! (Folding up the rear seats did not help at all).
I will tape a bit as you did - hope it's sorted out !

I've put a roll of black electrical tape in the lower trunk in case it should come back.
I might even consider to lubricate the locking mechanism .

Hello GHGH
Just read your message, had the same problem with mine and took it back to the dealers. I had a engineer come around with me and as soon as he heard it he said that Honda had brought out a modification for the back seats. Dont know exactly what it was but it has been silent ever since

Thanks.
I will tell my dealer next time we meet, then wi'll see if Honda Norway knows about this mod!
However - the electrical tape has kept it silent.

bets being taken that the Honda fix is....

a roll of electrical tape!

I do wonder sometimes if someone somewhere in the Honda R&D Bug Fix team is getting big pay rises on the back of reading CivInfo

Think I've found the cause for the clicking sounds.
The rear seat back got several metal plates - high up on the back there is a "manhole" (for accessing the headrest mechanism?), which in my car is not well screwed into the base, slamming into it when the right body roll occurs.
If you fold down the seat back, undo a few hooks and a zip on the upholstery, you can access it. Put in som padding or felt, and it's silent.

The taping of the seat locking clasp probably works because it will soften the body roll movement.
