Hope everything turns out okay for you and you get your car sorted and looking good again.

I had my car checked over today for the estimate to go to the insurers... needing a whole new tailgate, upper and lower bumper sections and new parking sensors. Until it goes in for repair I can still drive it, although I will have to drive it around damaged for some time as I insisted on my car going into the Honda bodyshop which is currently fully booked for the next 4 -5 weeks rather than the insurer's recommended approved bodyshop (cheapest option).

Thanks for the words of support earlier in the week....Oh and the bottle of wine did help the recovery process but I ended up with a sore head the next day at work to go along with my stiff neck and sore back from whiplash.

Keep us posted with how you get on.

Hope you get sorted for damage and injury if that's the case - no win no fee lawyers love that kind of thing!

I know of this site to visit to establish if the car has any insurance on it.

ASKMID

Unfortunately you have to be the owner to get the information,,,,,,,,

Yes, you do, although we all make typographical errors in our lives don't we?

At last I got the Civic back. Fully repaired (extra paint on the front end) Bonnet, Front Cross member, Grill replaced plus bumper re-sprayed. Over £1100 of repairs and the police are just starting their investigation so things are going well. BMW 1 series hire car gone back thankfully as it was cr@p compared to the Civic.

Driver of the hit & run will get nasty surprise this Sunday because the police will be calling!

Unbelievable the police had a young girl take a statement that was so brief it neglected to say the guy got out of the vehical and inspected the damage so it just says he drove off without realising he had hit anything and they will not check it out with the witness as the first statement stands so let him off. So my advice is if you hit another car just drive away and say you did not know you had hit anything I certainly will should I accidentally do so! Waste of time and tax payers money having a police force that cant be bothered to act on information and check out a fact with a witness!!! I'm fuming!!!

I would not accept that and pursue a civil case, thats totally out of order, also get them to re-interview the girl saying she saw him get out of the car and inspect the damage!

Also just write to the DVLA and ask for his address they are legally obliged to supply it to you for a hit and run, then maybe a suprise visit???

when someone did a hit and run on my car, i chased them whilst my mate was on the phone to the police, who told us to pull over and stop chasing. We gave them full details of the driver and the car.
3 months later I got a letter basically saying the cops did sweet F A.

Hope it gets sorted for you CL. Things like this pi** me off.

Bonnet, front end, grill, bumper, number plate all damaged and not sure what else (at least it still drives). Back at the police station tomorrow afternoon to do a report and after that I'm not sure where I stand, just hope he has insurance but he'll be getting a knock on the door from Mr Plod very soon. I had time booked off work next week to go for a run and do some mods but now the joys gone. Consolement and advice needed please

Hope they catch that c**k and burn his s**t car!!!
Glad know one got hurt... thats the main thing! Cars can be repaired but people not necesserily can!!! (not sure if thats spelt right)!

Yep, just write to them say you've had a hit and run and want to pursue them in the courts and they'll send you the address (althouhg I believe a small fee is involved). How do you think NCP etc. send you parking tickets?

Although I didn't get the name of the guy who attacked me, because I thought going round there and braking his legs may look a bit suspicious.............

I personally would have, as I'm sure Copland is tempted to, gone round and shoved an oxy-acetylene torch beneath the dangly bits............
