Creaking windscreen ??

Hope someone can help ?
I have what appears to be an intermittant 'creaking' sound coming from I think the front windscreen. I think I have read somewhere on Civinfo that there is some kind of modification to the rubber seal, but I cant seem to find it.
I have a EX 1.8 56 plate, registered in Jan 2007, anybody got any ideas.

What helped with mine was a "lift" of the cowl on small felt pads and (after cleaning) sealing with silicone, there are other ways too that work, look here
How To - Fix The Windscreen Cowl creaks.
or here
Dashboard squeak noise :-(
Good luck

Yes - but it isn't quite that easy to do. You must be particularly careful not to smear your windscreen with silicone, it's damn hard to remove once it's solid. It is also important to lift the cowl on the felt pad supports, to get enough gap to allow for cleaning before applying the stuff. Good luck

Oh, after cleaning / drying you can apply the silicone, leaving the felt pads in place (that's why it's better to use dark ones) - if you remove them the gap will be too flat for the fix to work, mine was about 4 mm

go to a carglass company or something like that..let they do the work..you'll just mess it up...my father owns that kind of company here in slovenia for 20 years and we have a lot of problems with people who stick those kind of plastics on them self with bad silicons, thinking that they will actually repair it...
belive me you can make it worse

Clear silicone glue/gasket "pistol" from Obi (Germany) I don't know the manufacturer any more, it was quite cheap some 3€ per piece (about 500 g). I don't think it can make the glass crack because it does not harden completely but stays elastic. My fear was it will weather badly, but until now, all is well (though I would make it a cleaner job if I were not too lazy to tape up the windshield first)

I have exactly the same problem. I took the car back to Honda and they will be taking the car in for a day under warranty to complete the work. They told me there has been a problem with the plastic clips on top of the screen combined with the bonding! I will let you know if it works...

My 06 creaked and groaned when I bought it second hand last year. The dealer had a listen and immediately booked it in under warranty. They said it was something to do with the foam it sat on and the screen would need to come out and be replaced. New screen standing by in case it broke when they took it out. I think they got it out without breaking it. Not a sound since then. Bliss!

Have done the modification, it works a treat. No more creaking and grinding noises from the windscreen now, but I still have a few from other places. But I can live with them.

Hello guys... I have a 08 2.0 Si Coupe and I have the same problem. I am wondering if any of you guys have had a permanent fix yet from your Honda dealer?

I am afraid my Honda dealer will not be able to fix and that I have to do the DIY method...

Hi Ghetto2315
I think Honda have a fix for this over here in the UK , but if you follow these instructions you can't go wrong, (see link)
How To - Fix The Windscreen Cowl creaks. Thanks to Munro for this.
This is assuming a Honda SI Coupe has the same cowl arrangement that the Honda Civic has.
This modification certainly worked on mine

I am aware of the DIY fix, but what I am really after is my local Honda dealership here in the states to fix this so it NEVER comes back. Some how I think the DIY fix in the link is just a temporary fix and the creaks will come back eventually.

Can anyone find out from the Honda UK dealers how they are going about fixing this problem ... maybe I can relay this to my US dealer.

My local dealer has just "fixed" this problem - ie made it worse. They're gonna think I'm some kind of car hypochondriac but my Civic seems to develop a new fault every 2 weeks!
