Bodywork (Rust 0n doors)

Hi saw posts on rust problem this morning, went straight out to check having only had car for 1 month. No signs on my doors but will now keep checking, why should we need to do this on 06 cars. This forum is great for finding things like this but now I spend more time checking for faults than driving it (2.2 EX 5d).

Fingers crossed yours won't ever be affected, it is from what the bodyshopguy said a problem due to the angle at which the doors sits, which the 5dr doesn't have (your doors are about 5-6inches shorter than the S/R models).

ATB,
Tom

it appears that honda want to come down and have a look at my car.... i guess the last few days has been bust in the office with lots of dealers ringing them about rust lol!!!

the estimate has come thru for the repair to the corner sections of both doors at just under £400.

i think i wll go ahead with this but want clarification on how the warranty stands after repair.....

Why would you need an estimate, surely they'll pay under the 3 year anti corrosion warranty?????

Hey guys my car is only 6 months old and there was a little on the drivers door, but only surface rust at the moment. I had to rub it and then use rust remedy on it, then added a coat of clear lacquer just incase! I think that the paint is really thin there and the rubber seems to rub on it everytime you shut the door. I think I will also add some wax to this part and then grease it, that should do the trick.

As my car is only 6 months old if I were you I'd keep an eye on this, its not good!

as I saw there isn't any hole or similar thing throu which water can get in; since tape is very tight to metal and on other forum where I posted pictures no body found rust on FK models so far.....hope that it'll stay that way....I think problem is like I decribed in post before

At the moment, the poll says:
3 door WITH rust = 4
3 door NO rust = 5
5 door WITH rust = 0
5 door NO rust = 11

Looking at the rubber strip that covers this section, it looks like that it falls short of covering the complete top section, this is then exposed to water. I suppose if you catch it early like I have and treat it, it should be fine. Just put some rust remedy on it and give it a coat of paint.

The rubbers around the door also seemed to be coated in oil on my car, so I suppose if you keep this section greased up then you should nt get any water build up there.

Would be interesting to find out... those 3 doors WITHOUT rust... how old they are...

I'd put money on them being newer...
