[Bodywork] Rust on Doors Poll
As per Rust on doors, a poll to find out who / what is affected.
Please only vote once you have checked! (although I've set it so that you can change your mind if you find it later) what you're looking for is: ![]() and (hopefully not) ![]() see the original thread for more pics. With thanks to ante00 and Ravachol Please note that we may split this down further in the future if it looks like only some of either body type are affected. To help this, if you vote YES please reply with something along the lines of "Yes, Type S '07" many thanks Last edited by TTDegs : 3rd April 2008 at 14:52. |

I pointed the rust out to my dealer yesterday (when there for another issue).
They hinted that they'd maybe seen it before, but it wasn't an issue and was just surface rust - admittedly, mine wasn't as bad as the photos in the original thread. It has all been cleaned off and looks fine again, although I will be keeping an eye on it periodically. Worry is that there is more rust under the tape/rubber, or down inside the seam. |

If you peel it back, it might not stick down again - but then if you peel it back and find rust... I'm in the "if I can't see it, it can't be there!" camp myself, but... |

Exactly, after a few months of ownership, a new car shouldn't rust (I have checked behind every seal and around every bolt, not a trace of rust anywhere else!!!!! So it is B*ll*cks that it occurs all over the car!). Also had a word with a friend who does mechanics in his spare time and he agrees he'd be worried about where else was rusting and how would it affect car safety (i.e. impact safety) in a few years!

Getting it serviced next week so that is down on the snag list.
I'm just slightly concerned that a small patch of rust will, over time, turn into a much larger patch of rust and then a nasty looking hole.... |
