Because the seats don't have a 'memory' setting.

It's a 'feature' of the civic.

Nope, every time I lift the seats and put them back my seat ends up right close to the steering wheel and really upright.
Just annoying really!

hmmmm, I guess I have just been very lucky then. I let people in and out of mine, and to my knowledge, I havent then had to adjust my seat setting

While there is no memory on the seats, I've found if you slide the seat back all the way, BEFORE returning the seat back to the upright position it goes further back and doesn't stop close to the steering wheel.

Hope that makes sense.

When trying to persuade Mrs TT that an S was the way to go, I noticed if you just pull the lever up slightly, the back tipped without the base moving?

As long as you don't need to move the base to get in the back, then you're half way there

Needs proper memory seats really though

my wifes 3-door peugeot 206 has faulty front seats, but we expected that from a French car

Honda should think of this "bug"

Its also a feature of the Ford Focus so its not just Honda! Dimply is right though, dont put the seat back upright until the base is back and you'll be miles from the pedals but just have to pull it in. Mr Clarkson failed to do this when moaning about this issue, if only he had done it that way but he forgot to mention this when he reviewed the ASBO.

Its very annoying when you pull in front the seat for the rear passenger to enter, and the seat does not remember the initial position. The only thing that you can do is to push the seat to a proper position and then pull the back upright. Then the only thing to do is to put the back to its proper position.

My 3door opel corsa could 'remember' the position, my typeS doesn't.....

this is very common on Japanese cars. And I don't think they will change it when the facelift arrives.

Did the last Civic have memory seats? I don't think they did so if they didn't bother changing it from the 7th gen to the 8th gen then you can bet your bottom dollar they won't change it for a facelift model.

Like i've already said there are lots of cars now that don't have memory seats and the Civic's rivals are some of them....its not a life or death thing for me as I hardly ever have anyone in the back of the car.
