Handbrake recall problem

Took my car today to Grantham Honda,Suspension noise from front and the other various recalls,ie Fuel filler cap,Drivers door latch.Theyve had the car all day, went to pick it up at 1630,all done.Drove home 35miles,parked up and went to put the handbrake on.The handbrake has 2" of travel before it engages on the 1st click.Ican push the car on 7 clicks and it manages to hold the car when the handbrake is basically pointing to the glass roof.Obviously not happy.Phoned Honda, they say they have had a couple of cars in that have had the handbrake recall done and have had the same problem as me.Its going back tomorrow and there refunding all my fuel costs.Suspension now fine and fuel filler cap ok,but this does not instill me with great confidence in their mechanics.Ill keep you all posted.

Unbelievable isn't it, they presumably put the handbrake on after fitting it and didn't notice that it went right up to almost vertical and didn't consider adjusting it !

Muppets some of them.

Sounds like crappy fitting rather than a design flaw with the new handbrake - make lots of noise and complain!

I think the most dealers because of they have to do a lot work.....they don't spend the needed time to do it "right"......that's why when i go to dealer for service or to repair suspension noise (e.g) i stay there and i try to be over the mechanic and watch what he is doing!!!!

They rush everything, don't know whether to get mine serviced at the dealers or let the wife do it for me. Seriously though, there's something wrong with the way dealers work for things like this to happen, they surely must have checked it but didn't have the time to put it right, and this is a safety-critical part of the car.

Hi All

Well, I have had mine replaced this morning and it does seem more positive than the old one. I guess time will tell.

Always leave mine in gear. I got the recall letter on Friday. I am not having done. The dealer will only break or damage something whilst doing it.

I had mine done on Friday, and it feels a lot more positive, but IMO a bit less refined and slightly agricultural compared to the original.
Also there is no side to side wobble when it is in the down position like there used to be.

I suppose if we did it and anything happened Honda and possibly your insurance wouldn't want to know.

Hi All
Still not had my recall for handbreak yet, getting fed up with it dropping to the floor with a bang when I forget to pull it on without pushing the button in (hate doing that) So come on Marshall Honda Peterborough!

Was at dealer yesterday about my ongoing bumper problem, they say the handbrake fix for type R's isn't ready as it's a different colour!

Not being funny but if they are serious what have they been doing???

That's why I shall be leaving the mod' for 3 months or so, after they ask me to bring the car in Sivad.
Lets face it, Honda have a huge problem with this and the fix will not solve the contraction of the rear discs and pads, due to cooling down.
I honestly do not beleave that they have their heads around it yet.
As a few members have posted, the 08 models are giving trouble.

My handbrake was done when the car went in to be de-rattled....I think the ratchet is coarser and only has a few clicks to be full on, instead of 7 or 8.
Never got the letter though.

I had my handbrake mod done last week and feels much better no side to side wobble like before, but then it never failed before, but the dealer said they would do it while I wait as I popped in to see if they had any re-maps for the ECU as on going flat spot but as usual nothing available
