[Other] dealer visit for warranty repairs

going in tomorrow to have the folowing looked into:
  • the apparantly well known knock from under offside floor when pulling away hard ,with a following identical knock when braking
  • creaking steering wheel which more or less went away last 2 weeks-colder weather? but has returned a little now its warmer today?
  • poor sound quality/distortion from door speaker
will post results of inspection/repairs.(hopefull will have positive news from dealer later same day!)

Have the car back and results are:
  • Door speaker is on order
  • steering wheel/column has been lubricated.Feels pretty much the same.Think I'll let this one lie as it appears intermittently and not what you would consider grossly annoying(wait to see if it should get worse)
  • Examination of the (front/middle section?) of the car failed to find anything loose or wrong. Also mechanic could'nt replicate the noise on their test drive.Popped down and took the mechanic out and was able to demonstrate the knocking.Fair play to the mechanic,it took me a few goes.He acknoledged the knocking was there and the car goes back next week.Dissapointed but have to say half expected it may not be staightforward.Might know some more next wednesday

Hi cb550, I had the same knocking/clicking noise on my civic. The mechanic found a bolt loose under the car. The bolt goes from the cross member into the front sub frame. It is located just left of the drivers feet. This cured the knock from take off to breaking, but I have since noticed it still intermittently still knocks. Please let me know how you get on.

Update is:after second inspection still unable to pinpoint where the knock is coming from, although they can hear it during test.

Fair play to them, they are having it back next thursday and will be looking once again, apparantly,if necessary bringing Honda techs into finding the cause.

Car's back from 3rd dealer visit today:

They've been hearing the knock while testing and have dropped the offside front suspension and the front crossmember.Nothing specific was discovered so they have reassembled and torqued everything up to spec.

Their re-testing found the knock to have gone.Seems ok on the way back home but hav'nt pushed it on the limit as I'm really feeling leave well alone and let time take its course.

Got to give full marks to my Dealer for sticking with the issue and am satisfied to take their explanations /findings on good faith.Ultimately time of course will tell.
