I just read FMEA's document. Firstly to say sorry to him for accusing him a (long) while back of spreading fear. I can appreciate his dedication to what must be a true concern of his to go to such lengths to try and point out this issue.
Well done again on this document. Only criticism is I felt the quotes of Pottsy's posts were unnecessary. He does not work or represent Honda, otherwise the likes of TC and half the threads on here wont exist! Few things I took from it, totally agree, initial reactions by Honda and your ex- employer, if what you allege is true, is really poor. I agree the initial tests if not done to the appropriate official testing standards are pointless and don't prove anything. However, even if we did decide these numbers credible, it would still mean nothing unless assessed by the design team who know the design loads. However, given what I have read, it is still my opinion that this does not pose a major risk unless of course there is evidence to show the way in which the part is being loaded is different to that of the design. There is definitely no evidence for this. Thanks once again for your time and energy. You have received a lot of stick for trying to do this. You should be commended for your efforts. You have a real concern that you believed could put people's lives at risk and have tried to raise some alarm bells. To echo some of what has been said already, you have tried your best, but all including VOSA are happy with the state of things. With God's grace, you will not have to read about any incidents that you have tried to prevent, and this on its own should be satisfactory to you. You are a good man, and I wish you the best of luck for your future. Waran. |

Happiness is!
Hello Jazzman,
I just felt I had to separate you both from drawing blood, even in Milano Red, it is after all still thicker than water - only just mind you! What with rust round the doors, Honda could do with less of the H2o. Even red Smarties keep their colour longer than red Civic's. Have I opened another can of worms? - God forbid! In answer to your query, things could not be better in the VW camp - I am full of confidence in German build, in fact I am tempted to march into Poland - am I allowed to say that? Eddie |

So it has finally been posted
I must thank FMEA for posting this but only time will tell if he is/was right. I did not read the explanation completely but its obvious to me that the problem has been studied well. But how i look at this, it are just opinions who conflict, FMEA thinks the design is flaw, but honda and VOSA dont think so. As i said before, time will tell but now we know. It seems that some people just refuse to give this thread a chance as this would mean that there precious car is flawed but this is how it goes nowadays, cash must flow, things must get sold and sometimes the producers neglect standards, sometimes (so not always) with possible dramatic consequences. Just keep on eye on it if you own a car coming from 'the bad ones' Quite the thread this has turned out to be its time to pull the plug from this thread, what had to be said has been said... |

One piece of vital information missing IMO (if it was in the PDF, then sorry I missed it), what are the (allegedy) affected VIN's.

I won't lie to you...
... but I've just read through 23 pages of utter codswallop (and a lengthy PDF from 'FAMA Giles' which was equally cods-worthy) to basically realise I still don't know what Pottsy had for tea that night...
... the swine! Sub. p.s. my wheel fell off last night, don't suppose anyone has seen a thread (be it 3mm, 4.5mm or 5mm thick) on this subject... |

Well i've read through the article, understood most of it, and i can safely say that unless we exert extreme loads on our rear axles ie; putting an elephant in the boot or going round a 90 degree corner at 180 miles an hour, the spindle ain't gonna fail. The affected vehicles were the first 4500 built yes? Well all the first UK ones were on a 55 plate (sept 05 to mar 06) so surely any one on here that has one from about June 06 onwards shouldn't have anything to worry about.
This thread was started up a month ago, there's been no TV coverage, nothing in the papers and nothing on VOSA's website apart from the handbrake recall and a couple of ones for the hybrid. If anyone is that worried about it just contact Honda with the article and see what they say |

lol.....I have just read this thread for the first time! Very entertaining read.....and amusing that despite all the noise about it hitting the media nothing at all has happened!
Took me nearly an hour to read through all the posts! Do I have too much time on my hands?? |
