Drivers Seat Slide Control

My Drivers seat will not operate for sliding back and forward if it is in the lowest setting. Lift the seat up one pull on the side height lever and it will slide but with a loud ratchet noise; one more pull and it makes less noise; another pull and it slides silently.

It seems as if the front slide bar cannot pull up enough if the seat is in the low position.

Is this a common problem

Just tried the drivers seat, and it slides perfectly at any height. Is it anything to do with having your seats out for re-covering ?.

Mine's okay as well and it gets shifted quite a lot as we often share the driving.

No, they didn't touch the slide mechanism. They just release the seat and slides complete.

Just had my drivers seat checked today and they found someone on the assembly line had fitted a component upsidedown. They corrected it and now no problem at all.
