Red face Un-automatic auto

Bit of a shock coming back from my refuelling stop this morning!

The i-Shift was in Auto,

I was at a 'T' Junction trying to 'edge out' when a giant truck, solely for his ammusement, moved over to the left to try and remove the front of my motor.

I instantly hit reverse and the letter 'R' just flashed at me!!

I hit the brake several times and it still just flashed at me!

I selected neutral, then reverse, and thank goodness it worked.

Twas a bit of a shock at the time.

Got motor home ok and tried to repeat the selection problem and it did not recur.

Will drive very, very very, very ,very carefully from now.

Just found out.

The i-Shift will not go into gear with the drivers door open.

Not that I usually fly around with it open!!!

I just wanted to get close to my wall and wouldn't fully trust the reversing sensors!
