Flat battery in Frejus

Got the dreaded flat battery this morning. I suspected it might happen because of the constant use of a/c on short trips here around the Cote d'Azur in the mid 30s C. Although there was no problem last year after a much longer period - but then I had the 4dr saloon which was faultless during 12 months of ownership.
Got going again through a jump start and took it for a 30 min run with no a/c, so hopefully it will survive. I thought about getting a solar powered trickle charger. Perhaps it should be built in to the glass roof for the face lift considering the history of flat batteries reported on this forum.
My confidence in the car and in Honda has been shattered a bit after 14 years and 7 Hondas.

In this weeks Auto Express there is a new product article about a device that you fit to the battery terminal.

It constantly monitors the powerflow and when it detects something wrong it cuts the power. The idea, according to the blurb, is that you should never have insufficient power to start the engine.

Brads uk2000, havent got the problem fixed yet, just got jump leads to get it going again but have been using Downeys in Newtownards for my service and they seemed spot on so im going to contact them about this problem.

I was out having a bit of fun on a jet ski yesterday and while waiting for my turn had to help a couple start their Civic with jump leads and they had only been stopped for 15 minutes and they said it was only out of the garage getting another problem fixed!

Phoned the dealer, the guy on the phone said it sounded like the oil sensor was the problem and that they were aware of it so in the car went to get checked out. 24 hours later I was told that they couldn't find any problem with battery drain and that maybe I had left the boot open! I guess I'll find out next year when I leave it for another few weeks while away on hols.

Any bets on whether it'll start or not?

hi peeps,it might have already been mentioned here somewhere, but anybody here getting a flat battery and wants to jump start said car MUST LEAVE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. Let the slave car charge the battery for at least five mins 1st then remove the jump leads.Lock and unlock your car with the remote on the key, this will reset the alarm/imm system. If you leave the key in the ignition then fit jump leads you run the risk of wiping the memory on the key which will then mean a recovery to the dealer to have the keys recoded

Sorry to disappoint but the re-map does not always solve the problem. I had mine done (Civic diesel EX 57 Vintage) and the battery was flat within 2 days. I had the flat battery concern as soon as I bought the car and it remained for 3 months. It would not stand for longer than 3 days and it was reading 4.3v and dead as a dodo. MICU was the cause of the problem with 3 bent pins, always the same pins. Assembly problem I think. Since then 5 days standing, loads of starting power, battery in the green, France and back, all is well, confidence restored. I hope this helps.

I also had the same problem- battery went flat twice lately, was caused by the oil pressure sensor, now fixed. incidentally the car was serviced a couple of months ago.
