But then your central locking may not have worked either!

only thing I can say: read my comment in this topic. Because it ain't a cable or lever problem.

I didn't say it was

I did read your comment - We have tried that before and it didn't work so as I said until Honda find a solution we will have to live with it and use our own method of opening it.

I have just got off the phone to my dealer to book my car in for the second time for a petrol cap fix!.

I was told by the receptionist that the service department will open again on the 3rd January, but apparently there is a recall happening on petrol caps and they would call me back.

Had mine done today, It feels different and there seems to be more resistance in the hinge. It also feels like theres a spring in the hinge as you close the flap. Time will tell if this mod is a success

I took mine in today for them to look at (first time, havent been there since I bought the car). They came back saying they had to make a fix and order the mod part. The guy dealing with me said he'd go to Parts to check availability and was told they no longer do that and that the car would have to be booked in for a day to have the petrol cap/top replaced. They're gonna call me when they've got the part.

They didnt know anything about the iPod link being able to retrofit to my car though.

9:30 this morning: Agreed with my dealer that it'd be easier to fix my fuel cap at one of their other branches nearer my office, and he'd get them to call me.
11:30: Other dealer rang and asked if I could I get the car to them today.
12:00: I took the car in.
16:30: I picked the car up, all fixed with nice new springy, working fuel cap.

I don't think service gets much better than that, does it?
This has been the only problem with my 3 month old car so far, so I guess I've been lucky, but I feel a bit more comfortable that if I do have any more problems I have got a helpful dealer group.

A good day, I think.

mine is now sticking, have to get my passenger to lean over and pull the lever and i catch the filler cap as it opens before it shuts again. luckily have had people in the car with me both times, gonna have to make sure i dont run low on fuel when im on my own.

...and when you're alone, stick something behind the lever that holds the lever open.
This 'trick' works for me until the mod. is gonna be installed.

Another trick is to slide a credit card under the fuel flap. Then you full the lever, the tension opens the flap, and your card falls in the dirt! I had my EX into the dealer to get the flap fixed two weeks ago. Not sure what they did but it works, and no foam was used. This week i got a card from them saying to bring it back to get the flap replaced, aparently they only did a temp fix while waiting for a part.

What happened to the fix about the spring being fitted the wrong way round? I guess it's somewhere in the depths of this thread. Sounded like a much simpler fix than fitting new parts.

Had my fuel filler cap replaced to-day, it now opens on the first attempt (they originally fitted the 'infamous foam rubber' which didn't last too long). Let's hope it now keeps on working? The tension of the cap feels the same as before, have I got the latest modified cap? My original cap was fitted slightly of centre, this one is fitted central in the hole. I wonder if that caused my problem because it was fitted closer to the release pin?

Weird one... I asked the dealer about this, they tried for ages to do it.. and then claimed it wasn't possible to get the door off.

So I dont know what the issue was. Mines booked in next week to get this done, but they have no idea of a "new" fix, I presume the replacement door is the "new fix".

Fuel Filler Cap

The local dealer has informed me today that they now have a replacement cap which should overcome the problem. Mine is booked in next week so will update you once it has been completed and tested!!!!

What I would like to know is when was this replacement cap first issued. I am trying to figure out if it's just the cap Honda send when they decide to replace rather than foam it up.

My Dealer told me they removed some of the trim in the 'boot', to replace the filler cap. Said it was a big job.

Took an hour to fit the new cap. Did it while I waited.
