I think they were replacing whole units for a time, but even then there were problems. So I think the clip mod was brought in the replace the attempted foam/whole unit fixes.

If you haven't had the clip done yet, it should be carried out automatically during the vehicle's first service.

So I don't think the dealer was trying to deceive you. At one point, the situation was so fluid, that it was pretty much a different story each day for what dealers/Honda were doing to sort out the problem.

Thankfully, they now seem to have gotten it right.

Gospel truth or total rubbish?
Ask him if he'll let you snap his arms if your cap gets stuck... if he says no then ask him to fit the spring clip.

New modiifed clip, fitted beside the cable inside the flap resolves this issue, only takes seconds to fit it.
Dealers are aware how to fix, the foam was not successful after much use.

Thanks - I have to take it back to the garage to get them to look at the suspension banging on the driver's side, so I'll try to get it done then.

auto lock/unlock and fuel filler cap release.

Had my car in the dealership today to have the fuel filler cap release problem fixed. However when I got home and checked - it did not work still. Fuming I rang the dealership up and they asked me to bring it back straight away which I did as they are only about a mile away. I arrived and handed over the keys - they drove it around the back to the workshop and after about 5 minutes the engineer comes around to the showroom to tell me there is no problem - it opens every time for him. Turns out I use the automatic door lock and unlock feature and when you switch the engine off all the doors unlock - EXCEPT FOR THE FUEL FILLER CAP - DOH - Maybe this has been the problem with the fuel filler cap all along. The trick is to press the unlock button on the key before you pull the filler release lever.
Does everyone with the filler release problem use the auto door lock/unlock?

As far as I am aware the fuel filler release system is mechanical i.e. you pull the lever, and not linked to the automatic door lock/unlock.

R.
You reckon My 07 did and was fixed months ago. Yesterday it did not spring open but I managed to prise it open. Honda are in for a shock come next years JD Power survey.

Guy in front of me at the filling station tonight could not get his 56 Reg ES filler cap open.
I helped him..
He was shocked to learn that it was a known issue and wondered why it had not been recalled!!!

Hi TC,

I assume from your list that you don't have an EX, because then you could add the dodgy satnav routing, unusable POIs, and terrible TMC reception.

Good luck with the suspension fix. I'm due a new pair of shock absorbers and boot struts as soon as mine gets fixed after a VW van found it couldn't stop as quickly as the Civic.

Cheers,
AN

Mine's going in to have those done at the same time, I'm leaving it with the dealer all weekend as I won't need the car, so no excuses to not have it sorted lol!

They want to replace the windscreen seal too.

The filler cap on mine has always behaved itself until a couple of weeks ago. I have now had about 3 occasions when it won't open at the first attempt. Obviously this wasn't modded during the 12500 service.

Anyway today I was in the garage sorting out the track bike and found a couple of small springs got the car key and this is the result

works a treat, cap springs open with gusto now , the spring is just the right dai the fit snuggly onto the little rubber stop.

My March 06 SE has been okay up until now. Couldn't get it to open on Saturday so phoned the dealer who couldn't understand why it hadn't been recalled earlier. It goes in on Wednesday to be fixed.

Anyone had theirs fixed and then find after a year or so it stops working again?
I can only go to the filling station with my son in the car at the moment as he has to pull the lever ad I get my finger nail on the cap to try and flick it open. It was supposedly fixed by the dealer 18 months ago and has been fine until the last few weeks.
Am working my nuts off and don't have the time to take it to the dealer right now - hoping they don't try and charge me for the work!
