2008 Cars - Faults Fixed?
Have most of the faults been fixed now?
I'm thinking of such things as fuel cap, handbreak, rattles etc. Any 08 car owners care to comment? |

Fuel cap was fixed by August on new cars, handbrake supposedly fixed on 08's, rattles.....you ALWAYS get them even on top end car. Best folk to comment would be those who've had an earlier model and a new 08 like Bob H

Cant' stand rattles, hope there is not too many on my new car. My current Civic rattles a fair bit. Must have been a Friday build.

Angie is right.
I had a 56 plate silver sport and now have an 08 EX. I did a review with my initial thoughts and they still stand. See user reviews 'First impression of EX v Sport' The ride is better, no creaks, doors shut better, handbrake is the new one (factory fitted), and the fuel flap opens every time - may not be far but doesn't stick. And no rattles (so far!!) Mr lippy is much more impressed with the 08 than the 56 plate, he thinks it's an altogether better car, and I must say I agree with him. |

Had my 08 type S for 6 weeks - no problem with the fuel cap, no rattles to speak of. I did have an issue with the hanbrake - it rolled slightly when parked on an incline (luckily no damage) but I think the problem was a combination of warm brakes and a weak left arm. Nothing since. I believe the handbrake problem on earlier cars has now been fixed.

Had my TR for 7 weeks (from new):
The battery problem has affected me - with no guarantees it wont again... Dealer can't confirm if the handbrake problem is still applicable to my car or not, no official word if it's fixed as new on 08 cars - they've informed me i will receive a letter from HUK if im affected within the next six weeks. I have experienced the 'creaking' when parking on a hill though so not overly confident as yet. Haven't really seen anything else negative - the rest has all been good - and no recurrence of the god awful glove box rattle of death i had on my TS! |

Had mine since Feb 29th and I have experienced NO problems.
Not a single one of the issues that others on here have had in plenty. - Handbrake fine - 3rd Gear fine - Windscreen Cowl fine - Filler Cap fine - No Rattles - No Knocks or Creaks from the Suspension - Rear Suspension not fitted upside down - No Paint Chips - No Loose Fittings The Car is PERFECT! I don't know if I'm just lucky or if they really have fixed everything up. Maybe they just took all of the "quality" from TC's car and put it in mine? -H |

comparing it to my 06 2.2 ES, the bigest difference ive noticed is my boot now closes correctly.
Petrol cap has worked everytime too, but then again ive only used it 3 times in a week to fill up. There are however a few creaks and groans, but hey i can live with that. |

Well, a fix is available for handbrake and filler cap for all Civics that need it, so these are no longer problems for earlier models. What I wonder is, has the scratch-prone shiny plastic on the dash been replaced ?.

I've got an 08 car on a 57 plate and I must say I've experienced none of the reliability issues that were so common on earlier cars. Handbrake, fuel cap, suspension knocks & creaks, leaks, door rust, light condensation, etc are all ok. My 3rd gear was a bit dodgy to begin with, but a 1000 miles later and its fine. Only two issues with mine:
1) Rattles (obviously). 2) Paint (you just have to look at it and its scratched/chipped. Sort those out Honda and you've cracked it. |

Can't agree with that at all.
My Accord had only one minor very occasional rattle (from the roof light) at over 100,000 miles and my previous Civic had NO rattles ever in 30,000 miles. My BMW X5 has no rattles at 60,000 miles, and a previous Daimler had none (if a few creaks from the leather & wood!) at over 90,000 miles |

handbrake
I just had a service on my 07, and the dealer said the handbrake needed fixing. I suspect they are right. Never had a recall letter, though.

Had my 08 2.2 SE for two weeks. Done 1100 miles with no problems so far. No rattles or anything. Even the paint hasn't chipped yet (gulp!). The car feels solid, tight and well built.
