replacement compressor
Hi,update on replacement of my a/c compressor unit - it has not happened yet.Should have been today but evidently there has been a cockup at some parts depot and has not been delivered - should be on monday now!
Question!! Has anyone else on this site have had to have their a/c compressor replaced(current civic) - my service chap says it has been new to him? |

Prior to recharging with refrigerant, the system must be evacuated to remove any moisture that could be in the system, as it will have been opened up to replace the compressor. (bringing the system into vacuum allows H2O to boil off) Hope this helps... Cheers, Bob... |

I can't imagine compressors starting to fail on the new civics, but like i said in another post it happened to my old civic (5yrs old)... like bob h said i'd ask the dealer why it happened? I know it ain't cheap to fix the compressor I hope it's still under warranty for you.

on going a/c saga
Had compressor replaced, system not yet fixed, dealer has now decided to replace pipes and evaporator because of contamination (parts on order).Just hope the bits floating round were caught by the filter and not ending up ruining the compressor again! Will keep you informed.Incidently they have'nt said what could have caused the problem - maybe assembly error?

If the compressor suffered a major internal breakup then the condenser is the first section of the circuit to be contaminated. Replacing this as well will leave you with almost a new system... Hope this helps... Cheers, Bob... |

hi,had additional work done yesterday - and now seems ok.I don't know whether a condenser was replaced, there was a considerable list of parts on the claim form I signed for - am very pleased I have'nt had to pay the bill and hope it does not happen again while I've got the car!.
